After a lot of research and a long night, a new version of the Static Lighting Generator is here!

Yes, yes, I know. Please try to curb your enthusiasm.



Static Lighting Generator 2

  • Drawing offloaded onto DLL, resulting in average generation times of 7 seconds for a 40x40 map
  • Now supports all icon sizes
  • One step process, no more fussing with preparation or exporting
  • Compiles all data into a single DMI
  • Much shorter and cleaner code, allows for easier usage with games
  • No more data corruption or resource overloading






Check it out. The next update I'm planning (not for a while, though) is to add penumbra for soft-shadows, instead of the rather jagged shadows it creates now. But first things first, I have to make an actual game that uses this system!

Wow, now it's actually usable! I've been thinking of revisiting/redoing an old project over the summer, maybe if I do, I'll use this.
Generates the Office map in less than 3 seconds on my computer. Pretty awesome.
Back in the day, we had competing shooter games. They were somewhat similar as well, with vehicles and objectives to capture...

My Faction Wars, which was more complex and kind of cobbled together, vs Your Final Horizon, which was streamlined and well-made all around.



Now we have competing lighting systems. >:P

Yours, which generates static per-pixel lighting, vs Mine, which generates dynamic per-vertex lighting.
