As the one who originally got his hands dirty creating the BYOND blogging system, I am forever attached to this place and to spewing my fleeting thoughts all over the floor here.

But it's been bothering me lately that the unavoidably niche nature of our little enclave, and the free-wheeling nature of some of my posts (a few of which might even be a bit over the top...I know, shocking!), and most of all the fact that I haven't always presented my best face here, prevents me from publicizing this blog in some places I would otherwise like to. Not to mention, frankly, having to explain the "Deadron" things to co-workers and the like.

So having Cafe Hayek give me a Hat Tip for pointing them to the robot comic (see last post and the comments for explanation) pushed me over the edge...unlike most people who get credited in such a manner, my name was bare, with no little blue link to drive people to my words of wisdom. A real lost opportunity.

For a while now I've had a concept for a new blog, where I would be challenged to be my best and provide an environment where others are challenged to do the same, without name calling and all the crap that comes in any standard internet conversation (a perusal of the comment threads on any of my political posts contains a hint of what I want to avoid).

And so Better Angels is born...

Check it out if you like, and I'd love comments on how to improve it, but don't worry that I'll be gone. The Dead Zone remains alive as the place where I can let my hair down and hang with ya all...and possibly the place where I'll try out some concepts before giving them the Better Angels treatment.
