I Have The Coolest Job Ever
Well, my parole officer has been nagging me to death about getting a job, so I finally gave in. So, I went around Tuesday and dropped off applications. Well, usually I have terrible problems trying to find a job, seriously it's always been the hardest thing ever. Anyway, I dropped off application, and as soon as I took my application to MacDonald’s they had me do some type of "test". After the "test" they told me to come back Thursday at 3:30 PM for an interview. I dropped off more applications then dropped one off at Teleservices, and set up an interview there too for Wednesday at 3:00 PM.
I didn't really want to work at Teleservices, because of what other people told me about it being dirty. I went to the interview anyway, and it turns out the hiring manager is this Dave guy I used to sell weed to, and he's also my friend's, girlfriend's brother. So, I got the job there. But I just decided I'd go with that then just work for MacDonald’s, and leave that job.
So, I had to come back at 4:30 PM the same day to start my training with 7 other potential employees. When I actually got to go in there I was amazed. It's a huge room with cubical, and they employ over 350 people working over 2 shifts. Then I started seeing people, and I have to say I probably easily know 75% of the people working at that place.
But anyway, I go into the training room. My teacher is some Phil dude with messed up eyes, but he's got a sense of humor. Basically training was listening to him talk all the way from 4:30 PM until 11:00 PM. That was easily the longest 6 1/2 hours of my life. We did however, go over the scripts a few times, which was confusing and frustrating.
When I got home I was tired. I had only gotten 3 hours of sleep the previous night, then I had to go through this. I thought I'd fall right asleep, wrong I was up until about 4:00 AM laying in bed doing nothing. I finally dozed off and woke up at around 3:00 PM to my girlfriend yelling, "Hey I'm back!" This means she's out of school, which means it's probably more like 3:30 PM, and it means I missed classes myself (8:15 AM to 11:15 AM).
So, I missed the MacDonald’s interview, school, and not to mention if I didn't hurry I was going to be late getting to Teleservices. So, I hurry up then get over to Teleservices, and now we get to actually go out on the floor, and get training from reps. Well, I got paired up with an attractive girl. She 19 years old, has one kid a baby boy, and a really amazing story. But that's a whole other story.
So, she's helping me out and the stuff she and some other older guy are telling me are the complete opposite of what we learned in training. The guy has been making tons of sales though, so I figure it's probably in my best interest to listen. Well, the girl is struggling, a lot of answering machine, hang-ups, ect. She went home without making a sale her third day in a row. But we did have a lot of fun. We call some place and I told him my name and he was like, "Well hello there, buddy!" Then I told him that I was selling IndenityMonitor to him to help protect his identity from theft by means of credit cards, cell phones, ect. The dude has sounded like a drunk redneck since I picked up the phone so I had a feeling he was going to say something, and I was right. HE replies to this with, "Oh, yeah, I know all about that stealin' identities I do it all the time." And I just started cracking up. I didn't know what to say. So I just continued with a well that's very nice, then the rest of the script. Then someone in this he says, "You know we usually hunt down and shoot the mother ******* who try callin' here." And I just couldn't help it, I was laughing so hard I had to end the call, with the, "Thank you for your time, if you have any questions about this call, please call toll free 1-866-something." And he had me repeat the number to him about 8 times, before I just hung up.
Well, the girl left at 10:00 PM, so I took over her seat and got to login with my information. I wasn't really expecting much. I suck at doing this stuff, and she was absolutely amazing she had the voice and personality that made her perfect for the job. I was having the same trouble she was, then I called some Mexican people, and I was so nervous there was no way I could pronounce their name. But I tried anyway, and it was terrible... But he stayed on the phone this was the farthest I had gotten up to this point. So, I start reading the script, and when I get done he says don't I already have this. So, I pull up the Q&A script, and read the wrong one. I read the "Don't I Have A Similar Program" script. Which basically, I just told him what our program does all over again. I figured he would have hung up by now, but he just said, "I know that, but don't I have this?
" So, I did what I saw them do all the time, and I was like would you like to talk to my supervisor, so he said yes. So, I had the phone to the dude who makes a lot of sales and tell him what's up. He instantly goes to work basically lying, but oh well. Then he gives the phone to someone higher up and he talks to the guy. He talked him out of a program called Watch Guard by Citi that he himself monitors, and got him to buy our program, IndenityMonitor.
So, I made my first sale within my first 30 minutes, and I can't wait to tell that girl tomorrow. So, I just made an extra 8 dollars for that 30 minutes I was on the phone. And my job consist of sitting at a desk eating, drinking, talking to cool people, making an occasional phone call, taking three scheduled breaks that last as long as I want, basically, within reason. Then breaks whenever I want to smoke a cigarette or whatever.
This is how the pay works. Six dollars an hour the first day, seven dollars a day after that, which was today, an extra eight dollars for every sale, a 50 cent raise after 30 days, another 50 cent raise after 60 days. Then you get randomly monitored on one phone call occasionally. S, if in that phone call you read the script word for word even if it's a hang-up or answering machine that's an extra 50 cents per hour for that whole week, plus a 100 dollar bonus, and if you read it 80% or higher you still get the 50 cent raise for that week. Then after 30 days you have a chance to get a promotion all you have to do is put in an application. There are people that have only been working there 2 months and are supervisors. Plus over time works like this, you can come in anytime you want between 9:00 AM and 12:00 AM, login and start working, as long as you still work your required shift. So, yeah I'm going to be making pretty good money, doing something easy and actually pretty fun. =)
So, if anyone gets a call to buy IndenityMonitor from Citibank to protect their identity buy it. It's only $1.00 for the first 30 days in which you can cancel at anytime and get that dollar back. Then $12.95 a month there-after, and you cancel at anytime and get your current months fee back. Which includes a credit report sent to you within 2 weeks, and Citi sends you information if your credit changes at anytime. =D
Sorry for the rambling, spelling errors, and such it's 6:42 AM, and yet again I haven't gotten any sleep. Time to get ready for school, home, sleep, then work.
