It finally hit me today I'm a geek. I realized it when I caught myself:
-Making plans to go see the last airbender with friends on opening night.
-reading about Twisted Metal and getting excited
-Reading about Mortal Kombat, and immediately playing Techno-Syndrome 7" Mix on my iTunes.
-Drinking a rockstar so I can play MW2 longer tonight
-Putting off working out, instead letting the Rockstar get into my system while playing MW2.

And when I realized that I was putting gaming in front of my condition, it hit me: I'm a geek.

So I'm going to go blast some black metal, and do pull ups until I pass out, hoping that'll give my confidence a bit of a boost :(

So today I was walking around the city with a friend of mine, getting lunch and enjoying the afternoon. I happen to smoke cigarettes, and apparently chose the wrong place and time to do so. I should note that while she doesn't smoke, she has no issue with other people that choose to poison themselves.

As we're strolling down the sidewalk, a younger "gentleman" comes up to me, and informs me that "smoking has been shown to blah." It's key that I mention he was a pretty hefty kid. Now, I informed him, I was aware, and was of legal age to make the decision to poison my body. But, rather than him being civil and wishing me the best and marching along, he continues to banter me with statistics. I tried to walk away, and he continued to follow me, practically screaming at me.

So, needless to say, I got rather upset, and began to lose my temper. As soon as I got the chance, I let him know he was "a stinking whale carcass washed onto the sidewalk," and began letting him know how obesity is a leading killer in the United States, in front of smoking. Also, Obesity has been linked to roughly a third of the cancer-related deaths in this country. And the financial backing of large fast food chains continues to degrade our society, and stunts the growth of the middle class.

At this point, we're both extremely upset, and he pushed me, so we had to physically display our dissatisfaction with one another. Afterwards, I lit up another cigarette, and informed the kid that he had just caused me to smoke more, thanked him, and went on with my day.

Has anyone else had an encounter with the Tobacco nazis?

Just some general curiosity as to which everyone is looking forward to.

CoD: BO is being made by Treyarch(CoD 3, World at War), while MoH is being made jointly by EA(MoH series) and DICE(Battlefield series).

If it's another FPS, please elaborate what game it is, and if you don't play an FPS, pick a game you are looking forward to.

So a good friend of mine managed to drag me to see A nightmare on Elm Street today.

If you've seen any NoES movie before, you'll know how it's going to go. If you've seen the original, you've seen this movie once already.

Now, towards the end of the movie, Mr. Kruger makes a demand for a major character to look him in the eyes.

"Look at me....LOOK AT ME."

Now, I know that that in itself isn't stealing, that quotes been around since text, but the way it's done it.

Freddy is highly burnt disfigured. He turns to the character, much like Harvey Dent does in The Dark Knight. Not only that, but the way it's said, and the way it sounds, are identical. In fact, as soon as I got home, I made sure it wasn't the same actor, it's that similar.

It's not a big deal, but I ended up bursting out in laughter during a pivotal point in the plot, which killed the mood of the theater(which should have been suspense at that point).

So I was hanging out at the local cigar shop tonight(the usually place to find me on Friday evenings), it was a relaxing evening, complete with my Pens decimating the Habs in the playoffs.

It gets to be about 11:30, and an acquaintance of mine, Todd Paris, stops by. Todd is an attorney that's currently running for district court judge. He's a nice guy, and is always good for a story and a smoke.

http://www.salisburypost.com/politicians/
if you scroll down towards the very bottom, the candidates running are listed.

Now, we were talking the bit, and Mr. Paris got around to telling us about how he got himself into some heat with the current DCJ last year over a magazine.

http://www.tmz.com/2008/01/25/ heidi-gets-judge-all-hot-and-really-bothered/

Now, I had heard about this event happening, but didn't know much about it other than some attorney peeved the judge looking at Maxim. Apparently it was big news forever and a half ago. So the story goes like this:

The attorneys have to sit through their clients pleading guild or non guilt. Most of the attorneys just read a magazine and relax until their time comes up. On this day, Todd had taken his fiancé's copy of Maxim in with him. She's some type of actress, so this isn't really unusual. The judge spots the magazine in question, and flips completely out, holding him in criminal contempt of court(what you get for doing something like flipping the judge off and saying things about his mother).

This isn't really a huge deal aside from the facts that the two are running against each other, and also this:

http://www.salisburypost.com/News/ 021710-eddinger-courthouse-affair

So the story behind this one is that, at the very least before he freaks out in the court regarding a magazine(it's not a porno mind you), saying it was distasteful and warranting criminal charges, he(a married man) was fooling around with a clerk(also married). Now, that seems distasteful, and he should probably resign due to infidelity, but thought clever word play and manipulation of the press, he managed to hush it all in the local news, and then head for a re-election.

I'm just wondering what everyone's thoughts on this is.

If you're in the dark(horrible, unintended racial pun), Every April many states in the south celebrate "Confederate Heritage Month." It's essentially celebrating the fact they lost the "Northern War of Secession" to a bunch of "God damn Yankees." This year, VA's Governor announced April 2010 would be recognized as CHM for his state, which has received national attention.

I have a quite a bit of knowledge on this, since:
A) I've lived in North Carolina for quite a while.
B) I have a few "dumb redneck" friends.
C) Somehow, I have a distant relative that died fighting for the Confederacy.

What I've learned is that this isn't quite as racially driven as it is culturally(no that doesn't make it racist, the culture isn't racist). For whatever reason, Southerners LOVE their Confederate heritage. Don't ask me why, I haven't the slightest clue. This isn't saying that their aren't racists in the field who use CHM to further their racism.

My beef with celebrating CHM is that, well, the Confederate States seceded from our great country. That's treason in every sense of the word. How can you celebrate being Benedict Arnold's descendant? It, in it's very essence, seems anti American. I've tried to explain this to the locals on more than one occasion(in vain).

I'd also like to point out that in retaliation to the heated fervor it's stirred here(locally, as it does every year), I plan on celebrating Russian Heritage Month*, complete with hammer and sickle, and a re-enactment of the Soviet Union taking Moscow while America watched. I can't wait for June

Again, thoughts on it are appreciated.

* - I'm a Russian American, and proud of it. Now, I despise communism, I love America, and my only reason for acting like a Marxist is to make a point.

As you can read in the original post, SNEStalgic is delayed to the first of April, 2010. This makes me sad because we have to wait longer, but makes me happy knowing more thought will be put into the game.
I was reading (what I think is) this month's Game Informer, when I stumbled upon what's coming out next month(March). It makes mention of the movie Clash of the Titans. Not only does it cite it, it calls it a God of War rip off. Now, while I'm not going to say they aren't trying to capture some of the hype from GoW III coming out(though I doubt it), you can't justify it being a straight rip. Especially how the write puts it:

"Welcome to Rip Off City
Hollywood once again rips off a video game idea. Today's release, Clash of the Titans, is basically God of War: The Movie. Hydra? Seen It. Minotaur> Boring. The movie even steals locations, like Athens and Hades, straight from the game. Shameless. Just shameless."

I don't know if the author's intention was sarcastic, but I don't get this from the article. So, I'm going to attack it as if he(or she) is serious.

First off, God of War is a Rip on Ancient Greece. Second, God of war is an RPG, which isn't exactly revolutionary. Just because a movie uses aspects of ancient Greece does not mean it's a God of War Clone. FYI, Athens is a real city that still exists, though I doubt you know that since you spend your free time fapping to pictures of Kratos. Hades, Hydras, and the mighty Minotaur are ALL from Ancient Greece. God of War didn't invent these, so don't diss a movie simply because it incorporates aspects from the same setting as your favorite game.

I certainly hope this was all common knowledge for everyone here.
