I just tried a fresh install of BYOND on a linux server, and every time I try to run DreamDaemon or DreamDownload, I get "Floating point exception" (as seen here).

What's going wrong, and how can I fix it?

Your BYOND Membership will expire in 2 weeks, 1 second

I'm going to wait exactly two weeks, and renew at the last second. Even if I'm in class. Or not near a computer. I will find a way.
Take that, specificity!
It was made for a class, so it's relatively simple. Also, it's written in straight OpenGL (with Java, too), so it's taught me quite a bit. It was actually an experience that almost makes me want to make another (better) game in OpenGL, but at the same time..
Then we talked about SS13, and the goons, and everyone else in the club was like "what."
Lately, my desktop has been freaking out on occasion. It results in a complete freeze of the computer, and a white screen, or a black screen. It's also happened on a more mild level too -- then my desktop recovered and claimed it was a video driver crash/recover. This forces me to power down my desktop manually and reboot it, and upon reboot, I don't get the "windows has recovered from a serious error" dialog box.

At first I thought it was my RAM (no idea why, but it was worth a shot), so I tried all of them individually and what-have-you, none of the RAM was at fault.

I figured if it was my CPU, worse mojo would be happening than this.

Then I was like "well duh, one of my video cards is overheating." Except that isn't the issue, because when it freezes, I open my computer case and touch my video cards. They're both nowhere near hot enough to overheat.

After that, I figured it was my drivers, so I removed and re-installed them completely, and just last night it happened again.

I'm running windows 7 ultimate x64 with an ATI Radeon HD 5670 and an ATI Radeon HD 4300/4500 card.

Has anything like this happened to anyone? I googled around but didn't get many results.

...not.

I'm not quite sure what to make of this situation.
I receive a phone call requesting some source code for something that I don't have, but apparently Cyberlord told this guy everything about me (aka: everything that's public on my facebook profile), and I suddenly get a phone call.

The guy is basically quoting movies left and right, or something, I don't even know. I can't even tell if he's trolling or not, but there are some ridiculous threats (I'm sure EnigmaticGallivanter will elaborate on them; he's also receiving these calls). On top of that, this guy claims he's going to 'hack' me (coming from a typical BYONDer, I'm shaking in my boots), and that he has connections with the BYOND admins.

But whoever he is, he is:

austrian

german

irish

black

asian

christopher walken

kael'thas

..and probably like five hundred other things, I don't even know. All I know is I am amused.

Oh, and he originates from this thread (probably, based on a few guesses of mine), as well as another thread that got deleted.

Stay classy, BYOND.

I was skimming the Native Client FAQ, and I saw this gem:
"If you're interested in getting other languages working, please contact the Native Client team by way of the native-client-discuss mailing list."
BYOND running natively in the browser? Sounds like a neat concept.

So I started making a new game early this morning (obviously with a little bit of inspiration), and here's what I came up with. Obviously it's far from complete, but I'm releasing this for one reason: I am wondering if anyone can help me figure out a way to make sure a puzzle is always solvable in x moves (you'll see what I mean when you play the game). I'm still pondering an algorithm for it, personally, but if anyone else has an idea, that'd be wonderful!

Since this is just the gameplay itself, I should list what I plan to do with it too, huh?
In the future, I'd like:

scorekeeping. I've thought of a way to do it, it's just a matter of, well, doing it.

sounds. Inspired a bit by Chime and Matrix.swf, I think I can do some pretty neat things with sound.

difficulty modes. It's already built in, but an option to choose them isn't really shown.

color selection. By this, I mean being able to choose how many colors are present.

game modes. I came up with two typical game modes: progressive and traditional. Progressive puzzles would start with 2 colors, and work their way up to the max, whatever it may be. Traditional games would choose how many colors are present.

Obligatory screenshot:

Overall, I'd say it's pretty ambitious. If I follow release early, release often, it's not nearly as bad than if I were to try to cram all of that into the first release. It'd never get done, like some other unnamed project I got bored of after working on it for a week.

Castle Carnage is a round-based PvP game.

It consists of a DM, guarding a castle, and multiple players seeking to destroy the source of evil in the castle.

The DM is responsible for guarding the castle, and as such, his responsibility is to create more rooms, traps, and monsters to make it as difficult for the players to get his source of life as possible.

The players are responsible for infiltrating the castle and destroying the life source of the DM. They are talented adventurers of different descents (Mage, Thief, Warrior), and they use a total of 8 weapons across two different styles per descent (Mages have staves and rods, Thieves have daggers and gloves, Warriors have longswords and greatswords).

Each game goes in several steps:

Pre-round, the point where adventurers can buy new equipment to arm themselves, and the DM can make additions to the castle
Round, the point where adventurers and the DM go at it
Post-round, the point where adventurers and the DM get their rewards, and prepare for the next round
This cycle repeats until the game itself is over. A typical game consists of 5 rounds.

The above was copied from my tumblr.

I decided to create this for the poplava contest, with some inspiration from Yusuke13's blog post a while back.

Also, if anyone is an artist that wouldn't mind working on something like this, let me know. The game itself is getting there, but there is something playable in the meantime, if an interested person would like a demo!
