What do you think would be more efficient for a wizard game: having the player auto-equip clothes when he buys them (not polite for players to walk around in their underwear!) or have it go to an inventory?
If your not wearing anything, have the character automatically put the clothes on, if you are put the clothes in the inventory so the player can get changed when they are ready.

I agree with you, Dog Man.

Me too. You might also want to think about placing restrictions on unclothed players, so they can't enter certain establishments without propper attire. A "No Shirt, No Shoes, No Service" rule. This way, new players will have to buy clothes first, before they can buy a sword or food.

Haven treats public nudity as a crime. All characters start with basic equipment that suits their occupation, however, so the only way that they could get cited for public nudity is if they manually take them off and go commando.

You could just start out with really poor clothing, and if you get different clothing it could give you abilities, stats, etc.

Excuse me while I change into my Boxers of Boxing +12....

I will agree that you have a good suggestion once my clothes enhance my abilities in a noticable way.

That's like the Thong of Sex Appeal +4. Except that it makes more sense than the Boxers of Boxing.

Ah, but it isn't a pun!

Plenty of clothes can modify your abilities in a noticable way.
Your 'stealth' ability's are effected by how noisy your clothes are.
Your 'speed' is effected by wearing baggy clothes, skin tight clothes, no clothes, ect.
Your 'strength' is enhanced by those clothes your grandma gave you when you where little that where all itchy and stuff (By making you so annoyed that you just want to break everything)

Clothes shouldn't just be about getting special "abilities" and special "stats" you have to think of style! Why have some drab brown robe when you can have the latest blue velvet with black stripes? (Note: This was posted with RPGs in mind not some Kill'em all hack'n slash where no one gives a damn to what you wear.)

I don't know about you guys, but as far as I'm concerned, its all about bold and daring hats and helmets. In online RPGs, equipment should be about more than giving you more stats or abilities. It should be about, "I can wear this and get away with it, BECAUSE I'm that good."
In response to Dog Man
And yet not wearing any clothes gives you ALL those advantages.

Also of note... NPCs can make judgements of you based on what you're wearing. (Ditto for players, of course.) If you're wearing a shaggy moth-eaten robe, NPCs will scoff at you when you want to buy that longsword:

"Pfft! A pauper wanting to buy one of my blades?! Get out of my sight!"
