Thats something that Ive been meaning to ask for awhile.. What kinda system usage do games have?

I mean, how many players can the average RPG handle before it starts to lag? What about Mob? is there a limit for animations on one screen before the client starts to chug? I could list a bunch of these questions off, but I think you get the gist ^^

Discussion point I guess, what kinda circumstances have you seen the server or client slow down under? ^_^

This mostly depends on the host computer's specs and connection, the complexity of the game, and how clean your coding habits are.

The best I have seen so far is having 27 people logged into My Life as a Spy with no noticeable lag. It was being hosted on BYOND's server, which to be sure was at times laggy. There was a lot of other things besides that game going on though, and the game is fairly complex as well.

I imagine that a simple game on a dedicated host could handle a good deal of users.

My coding habbits aren't very efficient. I have alot to learn from people like Skysaw. :)

Also, in Operation Xero, there are tons of animations and lots of action. I will need a lot of good hosting.

In fact, I plan to run multiple servers to keep lag time down.

neat.. I was halfway expecting for it to be rather massive on the system resources ^_^
