I do love me some Dragon Quest. I recently beat IV too and I definitely loved Ragnar's chapter. His whole (unexplained) subplot with Healie was also very cute.
I started with Dragon Quest VIII, and then tried some of the earlier versions, Dragon Quest V being my favorite. I also tried DWM Joker. It was fun but it was on an emulator and was very laggy at times and took some enjoyment out of the game. Although I do have a new PC now so I could probably give it another go and not deal with the 10 FPS anymore.
But anyway, I raged every time I got into a fight with a metal slime. Especially when they let you get them down to like one hit left, and then they run. It really infuriates me - it's almost like they're teasing you.
Sadly enough, I also thought this was about Dairy Queen. Being an employee, I was sort of scared. Then I opened it up and was relieved when it wasn't a dilly bar being convicted for murder.
I never was an ice cream guy. I have sensitive teeth and the cold temperature always irritates the crap out of my teeth when I try to eat it. I probably had DQ ice cream once or twice even though there was one within walking distance of my house.
Anyone who plays Dragon Quest has probably experienced trying to kill a metal slime, only to have it flee the battle before you can actually do so. This is rage-inducing since metal slimes give you a very large amount of experience. In every battle, they take very little damage, and will either flee the battle as soon as it starts or, if they really feel like pissing you off, flee when they have 1 HP left.
In the comic, Ragnar says "I'll take that one" - referring to the metal slime that apparently flees the battle as he's finishing his sentence. If you don't see the metal slime, it's the gray oval looking thing under his mustache.
This video pretty much sums it up ( start it at 2:10, everything before that is just him cycling through his inventory for whatever reason ):
It's hilarious to watch, horrific to actually experience. It's basically the Dragon Quest equivalent of the Creeper "That'sssssss a nice house you got there" joke.
