Is it a BYOND "incompatibility" (for lack of a better word) with XP that causes my Dream Seeker to freeze for about five seconds after a MIDI is supposed to have played? Also, about half the time, it messes up XP's SynthCORE and I have to restart to "fix" it.

Sounds more like your MIDI driver blows.

MIDI playback works peachy when run from the system, it never freezes or crashes. And playing them on my Presario with 98 worked without a hitch, Dream Seeker or not. So why would my new PC start causing problems?

It has different MIDI drivers.

Probably that SynthCORE thing he mentioned earlier.

I'd have to agree with my fore-posters. I use a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 with it's MIDI drivers and it works fine. Perhaps you need to look for driver updates.
