This post is hidden from the front page: Enough anti-BYOND bullcrap.

Seriously? You're going to block my post from the main page for telling people that your fail software is fail? It was highly informative, and covered a lot more than just the failure that is BYOND, that wasn't even the main focus of the post.
I don't think I have ever come across a community with more incompetent moderation. You need to get over yourselves.
I know I'm not directly paying you guys off, like SilkWizard is, but I've brought in thousands more players, set a better standard for those players coming in, and kept them around a hell of a lot longer. I wouldn't mind the same superior treatment that all of these other douche bags receive.

Not only is BYOND horrible in every aspect, but now that NEStalgia has introduced it to the world, everyone's going to KNOW what a failure it is. Wooptydoo, it can make NES games, doesn't everyone just want to make and/or play those!? I can't even imagine the long-term losses NEStalgia has cost you morons.

Now, get over your personal "bullcrap", and put my informative dev post back where it belongs.

BYOND isn't exactly a terrible engine.
It's actually an amazing engine for newfound developers who haven't touched a programming language before.

That's the idea behind BYOND. To run a basic and easy-to-learn language for newbie developers. I for one found it as a critical stepping stone with learning VBS and what I've learnt of C+ so far.
BYOND isn't meant to be this amazing engine, so I don't know why people try to bash it and compare it to these advanced 3D engines that are meant to develop actual games.

Then again, people trying to develop full-out games with BYOND aren't helping. BYOND should be kept to basic multi-player games, casual, and arcade style games.

Just what I've observed over my years on BYOND.

DM is definitely easier than C++, not so sure about VB. Unity's language is just as easy to use, however, and its 10 billion times as powerful, and is based in various other legit languages.

There are plenty of 3D engines that suck even worse than BYOND does. Even some pro ones, like Unreal, aren't very good from a developers standpoint from what I've seen.

This is more or less my point, and the problem. BYOND is barely capable of anything graphical. A BYOND server uses more resources than a server for WoW, and clients on a BYOND game are pretty much guaranteed to lag, regardless of any possible developer efforts. There is also a horrendous installation process, which probably scares a lot of people away, but that will hopefully be rectified by the Flash client. These things aren't really acceptable IMO. When people can't seamlessly play a simple 2D game...

Well, to be fair, you also attacked two other community members.

Let's be hypothetical for a minute. Back before this Funimation nonsense, lets say a player logs into DBZ: HU and starts talking crap about your game and giving out links to one they say is better. What do you do? At minimum, I would expect you mute the player.

People constantly talk crap about my game(s), I always take it constructively, and try to get to the source of their complaints. That very thing just happened a couple days ago on my Adventures Comments. And on IconShare like 10 minutes ago.
As for directing people to other games, I rarely care. Links are already disabled in the games, so unless they were maliciously spamming about it, I wouldn't take any action. The only reason I ever mute people is if they're blatantly bypassing the offensive filters built into the game.

They truly are; such has been said in the past, and there seems to no improvement whatsoever. They're immature, and they lack what it takes to successfully moderate a website. I can understand if they hide somebody from the front page due to them scamming victims or such, but presenting an opinion is something else entirely.

If action isn't going to be done, then expect more and more users to complain, resulting in a lesser player-base for BYOND.

I've been on BYOND A good while quitting on and off, slowly learning some basic concepts for college programming methods, and have always followed Falacy and the DBO Team mainly. It's sad to see Falacy getting this Bs while Silk gets nothing but money when he has terrible game design.

It's just said and pathetic.

Silk is just a complete asshole who expects all to much to be given to him for the mere fact that he is a rich bastard who can afford marketing.

Great developer. Terrible person.

The game has horrible design. It intentionally mimics concepts that have been outdated for decades (including graphics), and doesn't even implement any of the most basic standards from today's gaming era (like players names or informative tool-tips).
Quality/polish, on the other hand, is about the only thing that makes the game stand out from the rest of the crap on BYOND.
However, at the same time, I feel his programming skills must be lacking. While he may be able to pull these gameplay elements off effectively on the players end, it seems to cause some drastic lag problems for the server, which points to inefficient programming. Of course, that lag could probably be put off on BYOND...
