Well, I finally broke down, not really for myself, but for my wife. I went to get her a cell phone for her birthday, and got one for myself as well. The price difference was pretty minimal. Pretty nifty little things, actually. We got LG Rumors. They've got some issues, and I might have picked differently had I looked around a bit more, but I like them. And more importantly, my wife likes hers.

Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 40. Beats not making 40, I suppose ;)

The day before, Valentine's Day, was also my tenth wedding anniversary. I decided to give my wife the present she's been harping on me about for years now. I quit smoking... again. :) For real this time though. I'm getting older, and I want to be around for a while, watch my kids get older and all that mushy stuff.

Wish me luck.

Pol Parsley, also known as 'The Thai Elvis', lives in my area. Years ago, I occasionally ate at the Chinese restaraunt he and his family owned, and he would come up to tables in his Elvis outfit and try to sell audio tapes. His english was pretty bad, but finally, after a fairly large quantity of adult beverages, I broke down and bought one. Turns out he's actually pretty good vocally, and his stage show is absolutely hilarious. Too bad the audio on this is terrible.
Doesn't seem to want to work from the preview. Maybe a link will work.
I'm working on a library for those who would like to make a hex board based game. Movement works, though the graphics seem to update a bit slowly for non-hosting players. The board works fine for any size map, and displays hexes with heights. I'm having some issues with rotating the board at the moment. North and south I've figured out. NW, SW, NE, and SE are being a bit more problematic.

North ViewClick for larger image
I finally figured out a way to semi-automate creating pictures for this. I added a couple of other pictures, including this geometric pattern:

To create the pictures, I've just got to make a picture up where each section is a unique color. My page creator will create an icon broken up with seperate icon states for each uniquely colored section. If anyone wants to make any, feel free to link them and I'll see about adding them in. :) There probably shouldn't be too many seperate pieces though. The more pieces, the bigger the memory footprint and the slower the picture loads.

I've been working on some internals to try and improve memory usage and load time. I noticed when I loaded the geometric pattern for the first time, and started coloring it, DS's memory footprint increased to over 230MB! I changed a bunch of internal stuff and got it knocked down to under 50MB. Still too high, but improving. It also takes quite a while to load the images, seemingly longer than I remember it taking before. No idea why that is yet, though creating hundreds of objs and icons all at one time might have something to do with it. :P
Gughunter posted about some graphical type Byond programs, and mentioned that my Coloring Book program was not available. I decided to recompile and upload it, however it no longer worked with Byond 4.0, since my F_Color_Selection library needed updating. So I had to update that first, than update Coloring Book. It will be interesting to see how many downloads Color Selection gets in the next few days. The last version had over 80000 downloads. :P
