It sounds like a lot of graphical display problems and limitations come from using sprites exclusively. With how beneficial the switch to quads could be, it'd be nice to see the BYOND staff seriously explore the possibility.

I don't know how far the technology has advanced to where any of this is moot or easier to overcome. The early graphical work was done by Shadowdarke, and my interaction with the code since has largely been in the form of reorganization and restructuring how icons are loaded.
