Is it me or has it become a habit for everyone to turn every thread into a debate or argument, ive noticed it a lot that whenever a new thread is created, someone will say something which another person disagrees with and all of a sudden we have a huge debate taking place on the forums, just wondering whats causing this, boredom?
I DISAGREE!

Debates are fun.

you mispelled "they're".
Also, I never said debates are "funny", I said they're "fun".
This is true because who doesn't like to get in a good argument to blow off steam? We're haveing a "debate" now, if you or someone else responds to this with either a negative or an affirmative. (Srry, dad used to be in Navy and I've picked up some terms that I like to use ;) )

The ultimately fractitious nature of humankind which will eventually destroy our planet and prove to be our downfall?

Or maybe most people who post here regularly are naturally argumentative, because anyone who isn't is soon driven away by the constant bickering.

To expand.

New ideas come from debate and dissagrement. How far would be as a civilization if we never argued. The world would still be square and the center of the universe.

That isnt to say that argument and debate are not a double edged blade. They lead to violence and destruction as well. Though no more than any of mankinds other attributes.

greed
passion
ambition

Nope, it's just what happens naturally when a lot of programmers are in the same place.
If you don't like it, don't use the debate-filled forums.

...Quite. :P
Its the atmosphere of the forum. Unless the rules change and the moderators start cracking down on negativity, nothing's going to change it.

[edit]
And no, its not just a "matter of fact" thing that happens with forums. There are plenty of nice forums out there where people are positive and upbuilding - this just isn't one of them, and no one has any handy ways to change that. On some forums, you get banned for being unduly negative or argumentative. And they're nice places to be!

New ideas can come from offering friendly suggestions. They don't have to be in the form of "you're stupid and you should do it my way", which is how most debates tend to end up. :P
