Well just a few days ago i found myself looking for a game to play, and could not find anything....
There are no contests, hardly any games worth playing..
Is it just me or is Byond getting Boring?

You're just not looking hard enough.
Well, you have to take into consideration all of the rips on Byond. So no, Byond isn't getting old. The rips are.

Many awesome games are currently being worked on. Just chill for now...try out different stuff (even if you don't think there is anything to play). Eventually someone's gonna make a winner.

How are the rips getting old? People constantly play them and enjoy. The player base is also growing by each day.

Gen, just take a small break from BYOND and then come back. That is what I usually do.

No, it's just that I haven't finished a game yet.

BYOND Action
74 Games
31 players in 10 sessions

BYOND Anime
432 Games
1428 players in 122 sessions

Nope, just that.

For everyone who isn't one of those Anime whores, BYOND is half-dead.

Action isn't the only other genre. Besides, those rip fans will come over to the dark side sooner or later.

Am I the only one here that thinks rips suck? No. We all have our opinions, but I would say over half of the developers on Byond would say that they are tired of rips. And you're right, people do play and enjoy the rips, but those are the people who sit here and complain that aren't any good games on Byond, so they go rip a game, just to get "GM" , and make things even worse.

I only chose Action because its the one that would make less of a impact. (At the time, Casual had about 7 players)
BYOND is not getting old, and instead of complaining about not finding a game you like, why dont you create your own, even if you cant icon or map or code good, your talents will increce and so will your game, then you will find yourself liking your little creation enough to publish it for everyone else to play and like, you see on byond there are "Players" and "Creators" the players play the games the creators spend some amount of their life making, and some people just dont apreciate it enough...

so um yeah, before i start rambling, make your own game, leave byond for a while, or whatever you choose, its your choice, but BYOND is not getting old.

No, but I'm not the only one here who's tired of people complaining about it. Get over it. You don't have to play them, you don't even have to look at the majority of them since the guild system came in (since most of them are under Anime, for better or worse), and if it really gets on your nerves to even see the number of Anime games on the front page then you can use the Greasemonkey script I wrote to sweep them under your own personal carpet (see [link]).

Ah, GM. I haven't heard that term in a very long time. It reminds me of the good ol' days in DB Fallouts where I was the strongest. I'd ask for GM and they would say that if I could beat them, I'd get it. Well, I did beat them, but I never got it. :'(

This whole thing is just a matter of opinion. People do get tired of playing games on BYOND, tired of seeing rips, tired of developing (no way), etc... They just seem to get old for those particular people. Don't say his opinion is wrong.

BYOND is really getting old for me. I've tried to leave, but I can't seem to stay away. I do love this community and I love the games, and the software suite as a whole. DM was my first language and I guess I feel some attachment to it. I can't seem to finish a game (I'm working on only one right now >:D) and I think that's why BYOND's getting old. I used to love developing those icon games, but only because people came in and they enjoyed what I've done with Dream Maker.
