Hot Fuzz
Oh my god, we have a miracle here people. It's a buddy comedy movie that manages to be *gasp* funny!
OK, so that's not such a rare thing, there have been funny buddy cop movies, but it's been a good while. More than that, though, with Hot Fuzz, we have a genuinely hilarious movie in general, and one that is worth a watch by anyone interested.
To be honest, Hot Fuzz is nothing special. It does not strive to innovate or change the genre, it doesn't have a sensationally powerful plot or compelling characters, it just decides to do something, and do it well.
A brief synopsis: Hot Fuzz is a cop movie by the makers of Shaun of the Dead about a truly exceptional cop that gets shipped from london to a small country villaige, because he is making the rest of the police force look bad. Nicholas, the main character, then proceeds to deal with an incompotent police force in the midst of several bizarre and suspicious accidents.
That about sums up the movie. Other characters come in, many memorable, including the bumbling partner and the several bizaare townspeople.
The movie has tons of truly hilarious bits, and unlike lots of comedies, particularly action comedies, it doesn't suffer from a lull in the laughs. Even in the end during a spectacular, highly memorable action scene, the movie delivers repeatedly, both by poking fun at itself, its genre, and by just being genuinely funny through any means nessescary.
This is going to be a comedy to remember, one to watch again and again. Go see it now, that's all I have to say.
