Here is the outcome:
It is by no means perfect, but is the best I could do(I have never had much of a talent for foliage), please tell me what you think and try to keep the criticism constructive.
Ok I have been making a game recently and took a little time out to try and brush up on my pixel art(no pun intended), as I have not seriously applied this ability in quite some time. I went through a few tutorials to refresh my knowledge of the basics(and learned a few new things :D), looked at a couple of samples of trees then gave a tree a go.

Looks far better than anything me or half of the BYOND community could do. However, you should try to do something about the negative space on the foliage part of the tree. That's the only thing that takes from it right now. (:

I love the style, but I guess I just disagree with the way the leaves are pointing. I've just never seen a tree with leaves that had such a circular motion going outwards.

@CauTi0N: Thanks and yeh I felt a little awkward drawing the leaves like that, I'll change the style next time to make the top the start.(i was working from the view piont outward, that's what the tutorial said to do).

This tree is looks hella pillow shaded. Even the leaves look pillow shaded and are pointed in each cardinal direction which isn't realistic at all. Your shadow looks ugly and unrealistic as well.

I think you tried too hard to make it detailed. It would have looked better if you didn't have all those leaves in the center and just left that part plain. Also, like Enzui said, the shadow looks bad as well.
