I have to admit I'm a little surprised. I thought the award for yellow journalism was the Pulitzer.

Mr. Gore joins the ranks of such peace-loving winners as Yasser Arafat.

If Mr. Gore can do for the environment what Arafat did for peace, we're in for quite a ride!
You're just jealous that you didn't invent the internet.
I'll be sure to rev a hummer in his honor.
Bah your just jelous that the big Republican plot to nominate Bush for the prize failed.

And no. I am not kidding, several Republicans did try to nominate him, but they failed most of the criteria to nominate, not to mention its a peace prize.

Haha! Nope. I read an interesting article about this yesterday. The problem with the Nobel Peace Prize, unlike the more scientific Nobels, is that it's generally based on the committee's necessarily imperfect (and in some ways unnecessarily imperfect) understanding of what is important at the current moment. The science Nobels are given for accomplishments that have been tried and tested, and are often awarded many years after the fact.

Bush himself isn't trying to impress the Nobel Peace Prize committee; given some of the past recipients, it might even make him uncomfortable to receive it. When you're the President, you act (or should act) with the knowledge that what you do today will be in your grandchildren's history books.
