My personal Assassin's Creed capsule review in Off Topic

At long last humanity has fully realized the dream of art lovers throughout history: to enter a classical landscape painting and kill people. The control scheme is innovative and takes a little getting used to, but once you have the knack, you will be delighted by the ease with which you can run across rooftops and hop from one narrow beam to another. To get the most gameplay, visit all the view points and do all the research missions for each assassination. Now that my skills are finely honed, I'll probably try to replay it again sometime before GTA IV.

Score: 46 out of 52

Downsides: too many flags to collect, not enough side targets to assassinate; the last 90 minutes or so pretty much throw the stealth option out the window (I actually enjoyed playing stealthily in AC); only one save game slot

When it comes to landscape paintings, Albert Bierstadt rules all. I don't know about the killing people, though.

the fact that you plan on replaying it gives me much solace. some of the reviews I've read and the people I've talked to have talked about how the replay value is essentially nil, and that I'd get bored halfway through, but a planned replay is promising.

I'm thinking I'm going to pick up Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed on my next payday :]

Awesome. My brother has been ranting and raving about this game, and how the mainstream reviews for it don't do it justice.

My list of games to play when I finally get an Xbox 360 is starting to become a little overwhelming!

I don't know if he rules Frederic Church, but I'll concede that he's good!

Yeah, it probably depends on how much you enjoy the core gameplay. For me it was very satisfying to stealth-kill guards, run across rooftops, climb towers, and so on. I'm usually lousy at stealth in games and it was refreshing to find a gameplay model that lets me carry it off if I want to.

Pros:
- Brilliant Graphics + Locations
- Busy streets
- Brutal Sword Fights

Cons:
- Identical Missions
- Repetitive dialogue
- One-shot assassinations... over and over again

In short: It's a small game stretched out by using repetition. But you'll love what there is of it.

If you're looking for an Action Adventure game for christmas, get this.

How is one shot assassinations a con? That's how you would assassinate somebody for real. You wouldn't want to stay there and waste your time, possibly being caught. You'd want to finish the job as fast as possible and get out of there.

The only con to this game is that the assassinations are all too similar.

Sounds pretty good. I've heard a lot of good things from people who have played the game in short bursts but until now I haven't heard anything from anyone I know well enough to trust their opinion (not that I know you that well, but you've talked about games enough that I know how your opinion relates to my tastes).
