Whats the best final fantasy game FF3 or FF7?
only reply if you think one of these games is the best ff game.
Final Fantasy 7 hands down. It was the first 3D Final Fantasy and, in my opinion, no other Final Fantasy was ever as great as it. 8 came close, but then 9 totally sucked. FF3 was good, but it can hardly be compared to the holy greatness of FF7. One of the main reasons FF7 is better can be summed up in one word

I don't really disagree with Final Fantasy 7 (except for the fact that it just became a tiresome character-development spiral in the end, when we already knew damned well what the characters' personalities were).

However, I found that 9 was far better than 8. Final Fantasy 8 was a failed attempt at mixing a love story, sci-fi and fantasy, and a save-the-world thing. One thing I can say good about FF8 is that I loved the music, excepting the new Dollet kingdom music that they threw in at the last minute. Another thing I didn't like about it was the fact that the whole game seemed drier than the others, as if there weren't a lot of things living in it. It was more like you'd venture thousands of miles into a forest only to be ambushed by things that scream and slightly resemble mushrooms.

Final Fantasy 9 ignored the attempts of making something cool, and just focused on the medieval aspects of it. My only complaint is that they tried too hard to make the characters have personalities -- it's one thing to know that Zidane is a friendly guy, but it's another entirely to have to watch him reassure Xavi at every opportunity.

(By FF3, I'm assuming that's the Japanese FF6.) FF3 is on my top list of games. I would rank it equal to FF8 -- FF8 came later, mind you, so that says something good about FF3 and bad about FF8. It had an excellent story. Problem was that later on in the game, it began to degenerate into "level up before entering the Star Dungeon or else you're toast". And once that was done and over with, it was "level up before entering Kefka's Tower or else you're toast".

Though the post didn't bring it up, with regards to Squaresoft games, Legend of Mana wins, hands down. That game has the best atmosphere I've ever seen. It also goes to show that you don't need fantastic 3D graphics to make a great game. Next closest in atmosphere would be Chrono Cross.

Has anyone ever played Ehrgeiz? That game kicked so much ass that it killed people. Well, has anyone played it? It is the one for the PlayStation, where you fight with FF7 characters and other characters. Plus it had a RPG mode too.

Siekenden Densetsu 2, thats Legend of Mana 2, it wasn't released to America, but there are quite a few rom sites that have it for download, I suggest you try it out =). If you have zbattle(www.zbattle.net) you can play it easily online with zsnes and have a friend be an extra character for help fighting.

[EDIT]: Yea, I have Ehrgeiz, it gets boring after a few hours of play.

Yeah, I take it back. The only reason I love Ehrgeiz is because you can be Sephiroth. It's #3 on my all time favorite fighting games. Final Bout is NO. 1. Has anyone played the English final Bout? If you want it, I'll send you the files for it and you can burn it on a cd, but you need a load disk to play it on your playstation.
FF7, but I like FF10 alot more :)

I somewhat disagree. I have gotten pretty far in both and I prefer the 3rd better mainly because of the storyline and the battle system was a little better. I dont really care about the 3d graphics that much though, and it was hard to get used to when they switched from using swords and magic to that and guns, grenades, and the likes.

came close, but then 9 totally sucked.

I have 9 and thought is was pretty good myself. I think it was the only other final fantasy besides tactics to use the black mage look from final fantasy 1 as a character (The black mage was my favorite character). I also thought it was pretty interesting when they started creating a army of black mages that'd go in there, cause chaos, then get destroyed by a massive summoning.

FF3 was good, but it can hardly be compared to the holy greatness of FF7.

I'm waiting for FF11, and didn't really think FF7 was as good.
FF7 is the best by far! i've played FF3 and i like it a lot but no where near as much as FF7. what i'd like to see though, is FF3 on GBA i'd buy that.

Sadly, I must agree. I think that FF7 had to have been one of (if not the best) RPGs I have ever played.

8 came close, but then 9 totally sucked.

WHAT!? I hated 8. I enjoyed 9 a lot. :P

I never actually even beat the stupid game (*mutter*Kerfka*mutter*), but I also thought that it was well done, considering it came before the 3d ones.

Final Fantasy Tactics! How could you not mention this game? I was just replaying it a few minutes ago before I logged on! Great storyline, fantastic battle/job system. I hated the one battle where you fought on the roof of Riovanes Castle at the end of Chapter 3, though. Ugh. Stupid Rafa always tried to attack Celia, then they kill her before I even get a turn...happened to be 5 times in a row. :P

I still haven't gotten around to trying Legend of Mana yet. I've heard some very nice things about it, so I might even download the rom tonight...

By the way, is Chrono Cross any good? I was quite impressed by CT, so I'm assuming it's worth getting.

It's a Playstation game, so emulation would turn that game into something worthy of being crushed under your boot. Are you thinking of Secret of Mana?

Atmosphere-wise, yes. The story starts getting preachy about mid-way through, but otherwise the gameplay and everything is good...

Obviously I was. My friend mentioned something about 'RPG' and 'Mana'. So I guess I made the wrong guess. :P

I guess it's off to Blockbuster for me. >:)

I'm with samaj on the Ehrgeiz thing it wasn't very appealing after a day or two but the FF7 character selection was a great add on to the game not to mention the limit attack you can perform.
In my opinion FF7 was the best ever and always will atleast be one of the best.
Positive FF7
1. Great story line
2. awesome music
3.a massive supply of items, weapons and other stuff like materia ect...
4. Fun filled hours of side quests
5. The battle system was great
6. Good Character selection (nothin compared to ff3 though)
7.and of course the never forgetful boss's

The only negative part was the story line as great as it was it got a little confusing at times...

PS FF10 is a great game but very short I did all the side quests and still beat it in under 80 hours.

I think the FF7->FF8 similarity of Sephiroth and Seifer was a little closer. "Sephir"(oth) and "Seifer" are pronounced the same way (Seifer can variably be pronounced say-fer and sai-fer, but seh-fer is the proper one).

How can you say that!!!! FF9 was awsome! It was one of my favorties, for the exception of FF7. I myself have never played FF3, I'd like to though. Another thing is that out of all the ones I've played they are all real good except for FF4, I hated that game, I don't know why, I just did.(FFTactics, FF4, FF5, FF7, FF8, FF9, and FF10) They all had their ups and downs. FF9 had the best chocobo system, FF10 had a sweet mini game(Blitz Ball) and a unique battling feature(switching characters during battle) and the summons were cool since you could fight with them, they needed more summons though, FF7 also had some good mini games and a good chocobo system but its story was great, plus I liked the materia and all the summons, and FF8s flying Gardens were neat and the graphics were great for the PS1, and FFTactics was pretty cool because it had a cool battling system that was different from all the others and you could switch your job at any time.

wow. Everyone (including me) that I know of (and people on the net) hate how Blitzball was made. Maybe if they made a improved and better one as a sports game it would do well. Make a custom character, choose their class (hehe, me as a black mage casting magic underwater would be cool), make their team, ect.
