Round 3...?

I've recently gotten back into City of Heroes...and am addicted to it. This has sparked me to purchase Heroes Unlimited (RPG from the people who do Rifts) and made me wonder...3 times the charm?

I'll be talking with Kalzar about this, and I'm thinking about going a totally different way this time....taking some suggestions (Garthor's, for example) into serious consideration instead of, "Meh, maybe."

No definate word yet.

Heroes Version 1.5.0 - Missions, Super Groups and Powers

In this post, I will explain all of the features I have added since the last update. They are Missions, Powers, and Guilds. I have added more than that, but they aren't complete enough to acknowledge them yet.

Powers:

Teleport:
This power enables you to teleport around the screen by clicking. There is a cool-down period, and uses a decent amount of energy to use. This power can eventually be enhanced to affect many people at once.

Invisibility:
This grants the user to become invisible to everyone, you can see yourself though. (I'm not sure if I should make it so you can see other invisible people also)

Fly:
This power allows you to take for the sky. All though you don't really go higher, you just can pass over trees, water, buildings, and things like that. This power uses a decent amount of energy also.

Freeze:
This sends an icy beam straight away from you, causing anything it hits to become solid and immovable. There will be a default amount of time before you can be unfrozen, but there are a few different variables that can help. If you or another Hero has Super Strength you can break out by having the ice being cracked. If the ice is hit by a Heat Beam, it will melt.

Morphing:
This ability allows you to take the form of any object within a few feet of you. You take the form of the icon, name, traits, and also the Text var so people can't use the text mode to figure out where you are. This power can eventually be enhanced to affect other people, and you can use it for longer periods of time.

X-ray:
Most of the objects in the Heroes universe are opaque. Using X-ray, you for a limited time can see through these opaque objects, but can't alter them in anyway, without another type of power helping.

Phasing:
Phasing allows you to become almost ghost-like. You can walk through walls, and any other dense object, besides from turfs like water, and mountains. You are almost invisible, but are still visible to the naked eye.

Heat Beam:
This carries the trait of Heat/Fire. This ability obviously causes damage, but can also be used to treat certain ailments like being Frozen.

Super Strength:
This ability increases your natural strength based on certain variables. If you have learned Super Strength, you gain strength faster also, and you also get a boost when used. You can lift/pull/push/break different objects, compared to a regular civilian.

Electric Bolt:
This ability fires an electric current. The bolt carries an electric trait, when it encounters the water trait it can have multiple effects. Some being, the object with water is severly damaged, destroyed, or people surrounding the object are effected also.

Super Groups:

Regarding Super Groups, I have learned how to use Datums to create Super Groups due to Lummox's article on them. It is very neat. I plan to have a lot of customization for the Super Groups including: Super Group Uniforms, Super Group Emblems, and Super Group HQ's, which will be discussed in the Mission's topic.

Missions:

So far, missions have been a great success. I haven't done much about them besides from activating them using Swapmaps. Most missions will be instances, meaning that only you can enter that map, unless you are part of a group. Then the entire group can enter.

Using Swapmaps, I have been trying to get Super Group HQ's to work correctly, that way I don't have to build every HQ by hand. That would save room also. If no one is in the HQ, it will be saved, and stored until needed again.

Stay tuned to the next update! P.S I am in need of an icon artist. If you can do turfs, contact me. I will have to wait till Xeal is done so I can see if your style can fit his icons.

Heroes Version 1.0.0 -- Making Progress

Lately I have been working on working on making Heroes playable. I have been adding ideas that people have given me in Chatters, old posts from the forum that Tiko and I made, and some from inside the game. I have been doing BYOND Member tests for the past few weeks and have had a high success. Heroes at the moment is ranked 30, which is very good for an unpublished game which hasn't been released yet for open beta.

I have been working along side Tiko and Cavern to complete the story archs and missions. So far, Cavern, who is the newest addition to the Heroes Staff as the writer/idea guy, has completed a few new groups and they are as followed:

Hawks:

The Hawks are a ruthless gang that hang out around bars in Lauren City. When in a fight, they show no mercy. They go straight for the kill. They usually come out around night time when most are asleep. They have incredible strength and their special powers are that of flying, hence the name Hawks. They like to travel in large groups and pick on anyone that happens to cross their path.

Shockers:

The Shockers like to hangout in all parts of Terbulin City where the technology is more advanced and where lots of electricity flows through. Their speciality consists of electricity. They can fire bolts of lightning through the edge of their finger tips which causes massive damage. They do not like to travel in big groups unless needed and hate being near water.

Below Zero:

Below Zero is a gang that specializes in ice. They are pretty intelligent and tend to travel in packs. They like to hang out in a city called Huktin which is an ancient word for "The Floating Beauty". Huktin is a city surrounded by water. The land is so thin that it practicaly floats on it.

Untouchables:

The Untouchables are an extremely intelligent gang but hate to travel in groups. They are known as outlaws and loners. Their speed is miraculous and they can become invisible at will. They can be found in a city called Caflin. You rarely ever see them, but when you do, they are always up to no good. They like to hide in the shadows and you can mostly find them in dark alleys.

Also, I have been working on a civilian spawner. Basically it will create civilians within orange(20) but more than 10 tiles away from you. After the civilians are created, they then get a random name, from Abyssdragon's Name Generator.

I have been trying to figure out how to set up the macros. Right now I have it that the player can decide which power goes to which key when they aquire a new power. But I haven't decided how to group the keys. Ex: Q,W,E,A,S,D are reserved for power buffs, while U,I,O,P,J,K,L are reserved for offensive attacks. Or that you can pick any key from the 26 letters on the key board.

Well, stay tuned for the next update/post. Don't forget to comment (Non-members can post)!
