For those of you who would follow my blog if it existed:

Over the past half year I've been without reliable internet, and over the past month I've been without electricity. The good news is that I have a new apartment, and am taking part in an entrepreneurial venture (that is, I am self employed) with several of the people I met through Occupy Providence.

That means that the Ceres communications base (my server) may be a 24 hour server. So I give you Artemis for the next several hours while I sleep. And, if that works, maybe indefinitely.

This also means I will - FINALLY - have the ability to host the GiaD entries from last October, right when all the protest stuff happened.

This does not mean I will be getting back involved in BYOND in any major way. Maybe I will, but my new "job" has me writing in HTML5 technologies instead.

Hi. I don't know what's going on with the new site. Where are my forums? Do the posts still exist? Please tell me the posts still exist. I had large conversations about the design of projects in those forums. How do I access them? How do I transfer them over to the hubs for my games? Those forums had a lot of information about my games, like players talking about different things in Regressia.

Ahoy! I'm contacting you from the brain of Occupy Providence, where I can no go (if I want to make the walk and if I can get someone to come down and let me in) to access the internet.

I don't have any other blog; this is it. This is where I keep my files and organize my thoughts. This is where I point people when I need to interact with them online. Sure, I'll still have the file space, but it's an extra hassle to have to maintain files separately from a blog.

I don't understand the choice - I haven't taken time to read about it, and I don't have that time - but I understand that Dantom has to act in its best interest.

I will no longer have a blog on BYOND, which means I will no longer have a blog. See you around.

Ahoy. I need to get the Giad hosting done. I can no longer host, but I do generally have internet access on sundays or mondays now. Can I get a commitment from some serious questers to play the entries so that they can be judged on... let's say Sunday? This Sunday that is. I need someone to host, Joram, I'm looking at you. Someone mind paging Joram for me and asking him, or directing him to this post? I'm at a library, and don't have access to my pager. Please post if you can help out.

Personal Updates:

Living in a new apartment. No internet.

Switched to a vegetarian diet.

There will be roughly 18 entries judged in this year's GiaD. (several entries did not follow the submission guidelines, I have no clue what BYOND key some of these belong to). I don't know how I'll multiplayer test them without internet access, but at least now I have them on a flash drive and ready to be brought to the apartment.

Moved to a new city entirely.

Not very involved in Occupy Providence anymore, but that's because of time problems, not ideological differences.

The beard is back. If they want to fire me, go ahead, but I'm not going to modify my body simply so they can project a more youthful corporate image.

I realized, tonight, that I am a member of a global reformation movement. Our financial, economic, and political systems no longer work in the best interests of the majority of people, but protect and advance gross economic disparity. Our political process is bought and sold, and our politicians do not represent our interests. We no longer have a government "for the people". It's time to take up the appropriate tools and get to work.
This post is simply to let you know that I will continue to be late with the GiaD judging. I do not know how late I will be. I have been taking part in the local version of the Occupy Wall Street demonstrations. That means sleeping in a tent and being away from computers. I'm back home to catch up on some papers I have to write for school. I've got school + work + occupation.

The next time that I have free time I will get the GiaD judging out of the way - this is not me saying that I've given up on it. That being said, I don't want to hold up the process; if there is anyone who would like to volunteer to take on the task of judging, send an email to jacobabrennan@gmail.com. If I had the raw scores, mini-reviews, and screenshots, then I could put together the html document and award the money.

Now off to sleep, for the first time in several days without bloody bongos going constantly in the background. Two full hours of bongos last night. Playing drums after midnight at a demonstration is serious ass-hattery. It takes a special kind of narcissist to believe that all the people in their tents want to listen to the same beat (daDUM-pause-DUM, repeat) until 3am when they have to be awake at 7am.

Quit bugging me about themes. Honey Badger don't care, honey badger posts themes whenever he feels like it. Besides, we used a scientifically sound method to determine the best possible themes for this year, and they are:

For Science!

Mirage: Illusions and things that aren't really there. Or any other meaning of the word.

Zodiac: Use any of the symbolism of the zodiac, just make sure that it impacts actual gameplay.

Honey Badger: Use either word. Use both. Surprise me. Just use something.

This year we had a hard time thinking of themes, so you get four to pick from. Whichever you pick, be creative with it. Find meanings that I wouldn't have thought of; do something unexpected. Whatever you do, make sure that the theme impacts actual gameplay, and is not just a skin on top of the game.

And now for a little house keeping. Remember to submit your entries to iainperegrine@gmail.com by 12:01am (Eastern time) Monday morning. In other words, you have about 48 hours from the posting of this message to submit your entry. All source files will be released to the public to view, but developers will retain rights to their work. If you don't want your files released to the public, be sure to say so in your submission email. Prizes will be awarded via paypal to the address of the submission email. Be sure to include your BYOND key in your submission email. Is there anything else I'm forgetting? Edit: Yes, be sure to include which theme you chose in your submission email.

Have at it, For Science!
