I wouldn't mind seeing something done about the '<< Older Comments' link on members pages in terms of javascript.

- First and foremost, you need make it so the page updates itself automatically to the new style. When I first went there and saw the blobbed together, half functional links with just plain text information down the page; I was about to come here and smack you in the head... I doubt there's a 100% chance that all players will refresh a game's hubs, and visiting multiple ones doesn't seem to cause the update.

This is a caching issue at the browser end and not anything I can fix.

- We also seem to lose all HTML formatting in the description box on the overview tab, which kinda sucks.

You don't lose all HTML, just most of it. The idea is to preserve simple tags but boil it down to text.

- And on the Related tab, the 'Listed in Guilds' and 'Players Also Like...' sections could be boxed in for easier visual separation of the two.

Agreed, some kind of separation would look good. I'll see what I can do.

Darken or remove buttons if the page they lead to is blank.

It should already be the case that the button should not be shown if the page is blank. Do you have an example of an entry where this isn't the case?

Indulge me, why didn't they read that information in the first place?
In response to Stephen001 (#44)
Because they're noobs. It's what they do.
In response to Sweep (#45)
Or because it isn't relevant to their browsing interests. If they're a new player, they want a sales pitch, what is the game about? If they're a returning player, they want a server. They'll probably look for update and staffing information in-game, along with tutorials and so on.
In response to Stephen001 (#46)
True, but also not true. I've had almost every one of the players that have been playing my game for months who still ask what's going on with the game and what's in the latest update. Makes me angry when it's RIGHT THERE on the HUB, or rather it was until this update.

When you favorite a game you don't even visit the hub at all.
In response to Sweep (#47)
Given that happened before the change, doesn't this suggest the description is not an effective place for update information? I suspect this is really a problem with how you are giving out this update information, than a genuine complaint against the new layout.
In response to Stephen001 (#48)
Are you even reading this? I am saying that now there is even less chance of anyone reading that information now it's hidden away in some closet at the back of the hub. It's not me or my information that's the problem here. I even tried putting a link to the hub at login time and STILL got the same questions, you've gotta face it, people are retards.

To which there is no viable solution; requirements for what your game needs as advertisement and layout are specific enough that they should go on a website if they don't fit the scope of BYOND.

Update information is clearly something that very obviously does not belong in a game description. This is the exact type of misuse that would be served better completely gone.
In response to Sweep (#49)
And I'm saying the description is not the place to put that information in the first place. The fact it was being ignored on the old layout seems to reinforce my opinion. If people are "retards", why are you expecting BYOND to solve that for you? It can't, and I don't believe the new layout is worsening your particular problem. If it is, that particular negative has been outweighed by streamlining the hub such that it's more presentable to new players (BYOND is experimenting with a more substantial description summary that works much better as a sale pitch to new players), and presents returning players with their next logical action. You can't expect BYOND to make people read your update information if it just doesn't interest them at the time it's presented to them. Surely you can appreciate that BYOND is selling your game better to new players now? (or well, it will once the improved sale pitch has been worked on)
In response to Alathon (#50)
Well then a good idea would be to include a place for this type of information. I tell you right now that I'm not pissing around setting up websites and such so I can have a place to put update information. I'm sorry if it seems like I'm being rude but come on, these are online videogames being developed constantly. Easy access to latest version information should be high-ranking priority.
In response to Sweep (#52)
I don't think release notes is a concern for the hub, but one for your game. A lot of games present this information on login, with the option to access it via a verb / interface element and it seems to work well enough for them.

I suppose BYOND could have a release notes tab, populated from notes you enter when you upload a new version, but frankly I don't expect it to get extensive use.
In response to Stephen001 (#53)
It doesn't have to be anything crazy, just a place to put notes that can be clearly identified as a source for such information.
I just checked back here and noticed the HUB changes.
While I like them alot there is one thing which I don't understand.

On my HUB page (http://www.byond.com/games/Fint/Pokemon) the preview desc seems to be all linked text.
Its supposed the have 1 bold line, then a picture and then the remaining text.
However the pictures hyperlink is now carried over to the remaining text, resulting in almost all the preview desc text begin a link to that picture.

Nope.. this is a bug that Lummox has fixed in an upcoming update.

Ah prefect, thanks for the quick reply, I'll wait for the fix.

Thanks!

I feel like the
"One game is live! Join it now, or join the waiting list to be notified when a new server is available. [See more]"

Should be centered on the page given it's current set up. Maybe it's just me. I think it looks a little off without it.

Bold-ing it might be helpful as well.

I was going to take a screenshot of Tetris but the hub looks different from when I posted earlier.

There's still an issue though. My description consists of a single link to a FAQ page which creates a big gap of nothingness between [FAQ] and [Read more]. It doesn't look very...elegant.

I would rearrange the entire layout like so.

* Get rid of the Description page. Instead, have [Read more] expand the Overview page with a more thorough description.
* Replace the old Description button with a link to the game's forum.
* Remove the text explaining the game is being hosted. There's already a Now Live button at the top.
* List the game's attributes such as being multiplayer or a BYOND favorite neatly under he download button to the left of the banner.
* Place the Listed in Guilds chart to the right of the banner.

About that forum button, it would be cool if BYOND Members could sort of attatch a forum to a game and make it part of the hub page. Rather than the button being a link to a blog forum, it could shift over to a forum embedded in the hub page. It would look sort of like this.

Also, the whole website shifts horizontally on the Reviews page. I believe it's because the scroll bar disappears when there isn't any vertical scrolling needed, which isn't really a bug, but I just think it looks tacky with the whole site shifting around.
