For any who might be curious as to the basic mechanics that will be used in Myth, here you go.
Your character is rated in a variety of natural abilities. These are: Awareness: Awareness measures the observational and responsive abilities of a character. High awareness characters tend to be tough to surprise, notice details, and quickly assess threats.
Brawn: Brawn measures the raw physical power of a character. High brawn reflects great physical strength and potency, allowing a character to lift great weight, carry heavier loads, and bring punishing blows to bear.
Deftness: Deftness measures a character's agility and puissance. High deftness characters tend to be able to act quickly and consitently with great coordination.
Knowledge: Knowledge measures a character's education and reserves of information. High knowledge is useful when attempting to remember lore and is vital for the complex rituals necessary for safely channeling arcane energies.
Presence: Presence measures a character's will and bearing. A high presence character tends to leave an impression from social interactions and is far less susceptible to effects that might influence a more feeble mind.
Resilience: Resilience measures a character's health and stamina. High resilience allows a character to endure greater physical exertion and recover from injuries that might lay low a character of lesser conditioning.
Each of these attributes factors in determining success with certain actions and generally combines with a skill. For example, trying to evaluate an item might invoke knowledge and arms lore or perhaps arcane lore if the item has supernatural qualities. Combat might require awareness and combat reflexes for speed and deftness and a weapon skill when striking a foe.
When attempting an action, the relevant abilities are compared against the difficulty of the task or the skill of the opponent. Flat success or failure is rare- generally tasks are achieved by degrees and some tasks might require some investment of time to finish (such as crafting an object or picking a lock, for example). Of course, some tasks are so trivial that a certain level of skill can almost be assured success with little time. Likewise, some tasks are so difficult that without a minimum level of proficiency, success could take a lifetime (and only then with luck!).
