I decided to pop into Myth today to give it a whirl, but the experience was somewhat mixed.
1) When choosing a warrior class (I chose an archer with class favor for animal lore), you don't start with money or weapons.
2) When I wielded my torch, I then travelled to the woods and attacked a wolf. Instead of using the torch as a weapon (most animals fear fire), the game made me simply attack the wolf with my fists and I was promptly slaughtered. I couldn't quite figure out why I wouldn't use the torch itself, in the few moments I had before darkness embraced me.
3) The wolf only really managed to hit my extremities: my hands once, my buttocks once, my legs once, and my hands a final time for the finishing blow. It seemed very unusual that injuries to those areas could have been immediately fatal; more likely I would need to be wounded until I fainted, and then would succumb to bleeding out or to a coup-de-grace.
4) After becoming a spirit, there is no mention of how you pass on to the netherworld! I tried "rest", which is an invalid command, and "pass" just tries to change your character's password. The help file is written "in character" and doesn't list any of the commands used. |
