867 megs? in Off Topic

I've found some outlook express .vbx files on my computer taking up a lot of space(well I only have a 10 gig harddrive, so its a lot to me). I wondering if these types of files are supposed to take up so much memory with only one person using OE.




On an unrelated note, is it bad to eat a pound of ham lunch meat in a day?

i usually have about 50MB in my Eudora mail boxes, and that's about 1000 messages or so... have you emptied Outlook's mail trash lately? or do you have many high-megabyte attachments?

i would think that high a number to be a bit uncharacteristic, unless you've kept all your email from the last 10 years (including all the HTML graphics).

It looks like the two folders outbox, and deleted items have 400+ megs in each of their files, the rest are small ammounts, but that is only about 100 messages per folder(not sure about deleted items, it wont let me view or delete it because of what it says is low memory, or disk space).


EDIT: It wouldnt let me access the deleted files folder, so I deleted the 421 meg file that represented it, it created a new one, and now it lets me access the new one. It told me the Outbox folder was empty, but the file for it was also 421 megs, so I deleted that one with the same results. Problem solved, I hope.

well, since the outbox is just where your sent messages are stored... ought to be ok...

one thought did cross my mind: you might have a virus that is using Outlook to spread/propagate itself using your address list, or the addresses it finds in your incoming email box (from the headers for example). that could explain a large outbox file size, and why you could not open it.

Im pretty sure my grandpa got rid of all the outlook viruses we revieced via my great grandpas mailing list, I just think the folders were left over from it, thanks for the advice though.
