I really do.

Remember that secret project I mentioned earlier? The one I'll be working with my brother on? Well, from everything we've got planned for it, I decided that just finding some free icons on the internet simply would not do.

No... I'm going to make these icons myself. Normally that'd be bad enough, right? But, apparently I'm a masochist when it comes to game design. I came up with all these ideas, and decided each and every one would need an icon state... To put things into a more easily-understandable perspective...

From one gender's base icon alone, I have to do approximately sixty-six different poses. Additionally, each of these must further be split up into nineteen body parts. That alone makes 1,256 icons/states (nineteen icons with sixty-six states each). I've saved a list of iconstates needed in a text file appropriately titled, "GODIHAVETOMAKESOMANYICONS".

To be honest, though... I'm starting to doubt myself... I wonder if I can handle that much, even across a large period of time? I wonder if a game could even handle that much at once? I wonder if it won't reduce what WOULD be a great game to a laggy piece of crap...

The only way to find out though, is to just do it. In actuality, I suppose 1,200 isn't as many as it sounds... It's still a hell of a lot, though. I really have to get some kind of daily requirement set up, or I won't finish this even if I work for a year on nothing but the icons...

This is no good at all... The average size of an icon with movestates is about 2KB, right? Assuming doing each of the body parts seperately still makes them add up to that average, that one base's set of icons would be 132KB... Assuming the worst-case scenario that each alone became that average, it'd be 2,512KB, or about 2.5MB... I suppose even in the worst-case scenario, it's barely workable...

Either way, I'm daunted by the amount of work before me... I can't believe I'm crazy enough to go through with this... But I will. Hell, if I'm going to go this far, I might even decide to icon the turf/weapons and compose the music myself with some MIDI composer... Hah. Can you imagine that? A BYOND Game where the author actually made the resources himself? It's too much madness for Sparta to handle, even!

Supposing and guessing isn't going to get me anywhere, so I might as well just shut up now... I'm seriously mad.... Someone stop me before I put myself in the grave doing this!

Agh... My work is cut out for me...

EDIT: Since writing this, I took another look at my list, decided what was really essential/whatcouldbemerged, and managed to cut out a net sum of 22 of the items (I took out a lot, but added some in too), leaving 44. That's an entire third! I'm ecstatic about this amount of work saved! With that, I feel I've done enough for one night.~ 836 icons/states is truly preferable to 1,256. Doesn't make me any less of a madman, though.

ANOTHER EDIT: After thinking again, maybe I'm just approaching it wrong. Sure, 19x44 = 836, but the nineteen is all the seperate body parts. If I draw the icons as the entire body at once, then seperate them, that's only 44 icons, with 836 seperation jobs to do...
