"All the way from the east to the west, we got this high society looking down at that very foundation. Constantly reminding us that our actions were the cause of all their problems."

I hope I don't end up being the guy that is labeled as the drama initiator, but I've been noticing an interesting split in the BYOND community lately..
Am I the only one that notices BYOND coming to a sort of climax and everybody splitting between two groups reminiscent of political parties which are either for or against the "new BYOND". This may just be my crazy ramblings but this is how I see it. BYOND has grown to a community much larger than what the original system for game management was planned for. In order for the games to be kept in check and monitored, BYOND needed to have a stronger grip on the community. In other words BYOND is moving towards a more "government controlled" style of administration and management.
Now, this isn't necessarily a bad thing. This will keep the games in check, and the software is still free. If you really want to get your game noticed, ask a member to purchase you a membership - We're not savages if you have a legit game under arm.
Besides, $18 isn't quite that much money for a yearlong membership. Think of the "new BYOND" as a controlled free market government which keeps things in check but you're still free to do what you please.
Anyway, quick blog to share my thoughts regardless of how political I made it seem. Discuss, share your thoughts, and don't feed the trolls - and again, I'm not trying to light more controversy.

I think it's beneficial that life occasionally reminds us that the world does not revolve around any one person.
The anti-new BYOND group is probably hoping that BYOND suffers terribly after these changes so they can say "I told you so." Contrary to popular belief, none of the changes are major enough to even have such an impact.
