Well, progress on Feed has stirred up a bit more over the past couple days! After reading some suggestions UPD4T3 left in the dropbox, I worked on the first one; atmosphere. However, more important news first.




Welcome -

First of all, please welcome Raimo to the Frakture Studios team! He's been with us for only a day and has already made some great updates to the interface and the GFX in general! He will be helping me with programming and I think he will be a great addition to the driving force behind Feed! So please fan him and give him a warm welcome!

Updates -



First off, this is the new interface border and startscreen Raimo did for the game. In my opinion; It looks great. I love the style of the border. So a huge kudos to you, Raimo!



Secondly, this is some of the things I've been doing to kind of add a bit of atmosphere to the game. I darkened things up a bit and added fog i threw together in Paint.NET which I think adds a nice touch to it.

We're in the progress of finally adding more weapons. Four that Dave has the icons and all done for but need to be implemented are bats, pipes, rifles, and machine guns. Dave has also been coming up with bullet effects such as acidic bullets, fire bullets, and ice bullets which would have the sensible status effect inflicted on the zombie and even some physical effects.

I prefer the previous title screen, but this interface ( no more white border with black lines through it ).

I agree the title screen is a little bit excessive, maybe less bright? And on the other side of things, I'm not a fan of the "atmosphere" you added. The fog looks like dirt, and I preferred it when it was brighter, although a day/night system would be pretty interesting, with more violent zombies coming out at night. Also, that pistol/grenade icon really needs to be fixed.

Unrelated, but your CSS is one of my favorites.
Also I suggested a frog as a monster a long time ago and I don't recall reading a post saying you added it to the game. Either I overlooked it or you disobeyed my commands.
Damn this is starting to look really damn good. I've been playing this every now and then since the first release. Lots of improvement.

Zombie Concept - Zombie dog
Name: Zombified Dog
Description: moves faster then any other type of zombies but a lot less health.
Health: low
Strength: low defense, moderate offense
Speed: 9/10
Other: Nah

Weapon Concept - Energy sword from Halo(if you plan on adding subscriptions or donations, then a knockoff would be fine)
Name: Energy Sword
Description: Basically the same energy sword from Halo(who doesn't know the infamous energy sword?)
Strength: 9/10
Other: Runs out after a certain amount of hits rendering it useless.

Zombie Concept - Zombie Ace
Name: [Boss] - Ace
Description: One of the strongest Zombies, decent health but a lot of damage
Strength: ext low defense, moderate power
Speed: 6/10
Other: Afro, ripped clothing.
Name: Zombie Bag
Description: A really fat zombie stitched together from various fleshy parts, maybe an arm sticking out of a hole in the stitching.
Health: Average
Strength: Low
Speed: Very slow
Other: Once it dies it explodes into various weak zombies (normal zombie, half zombie, zombie dog, etc).
Still too big of an interface. Time to fix things when I fix my laptop.
The white outline and the red background image don't seem to feel like they should in the same game as the art. Maybe the interface should go in a direction that feels more like the quirky art style in the game(that I love). I like the idea behind the white outline though and if it felt more cartoony it'd work perfectly.

I'm extremely excited about the future of this game and I wish I could do art like this for my future games.

Zombie Concept - RE/L4D Fusion
Name: Hunter
Description: Medium-sized, athletic, black-hoodie, sharp claws and teeth.
Health: Low
Strength: Low Def, Med Att
Speed: Incredibly fast.
Other: Has the ability to jump across obstacles, chooses to target one person and constantly attack them until they die.

Weapon Concept - Turret-Manned
Name: D910 Exile
Description: Small, compact weapon that can be attached to the ground or a car.
Strength: Very powerful, shooting a bullet every 2 seconds, has a 40-bull mag, and a cooldown of 10 seconds between each reload.
Other: N/A

Zombie Concept - L4D/Enchanted Fusion
Name: Witch
Description: Young, infected woman who moans, cries, and even sings to attempt to draw in prey, spawns in the corner of buildings or the middle of streets, is blind yet has incredibly long claws.
Health: High Health
Strength: No Def, Very strong
Speed: Fast
Other: Most vulnerable point is her head, not affected by most melee weapons.

Weapon Concept - Third-Degree Explosive
Name: C5
Description: A compound that, upon activation, will completly freeze anything in a 3 tile radius.
Strength: Causes little to no damage.
Other: Will only slow down human players, but will cause NPC's to be completly still and unable to move for about 25 - 30 seconds.

Keep it simple. WASD to move, F to shoot primary, T to use secondary, etc.
Stop taking L4D zombies as suggestions, this isn't a fan-game, same with energy sword, a beam sword is one thing, but copy pasting the energy sword from halo... No.
I'm basing my idea on other games. It doesn't make them exactly the same. If they aren't added, then they won't be. I didn't make the idea of the energy sword and I tried to give some diversity to the fan-game material.

Stop critising our suggestions, because yours isn't the best either. "Zombie Bag". What a creative name. Sounds like the boomer from L4D2

And zombies pop pop out when it dies, rather than a swarm being called?

Zombie Concept - Non-Hunting Undead
Name: Creeper
Description: Tall, skinny, nearly naked, huddles in corners, will attack anything (Zombies and Players alike) that come within 2 tiles of it.
Health: Very High
Strength: Low Def, Low Att
Speed: Very Fast
Other: Uses it's long tounge to grasp prey and slowly consume it, prey can attack while being strangeled but cannot move, Creeper is immune to fire.

Weapon Concept - Anti-Force
Name: Riot Shield
Description: Secondary, covers lower body, is made out of bulletproof glass and is hard for zombies to break through.
Strength: Very high def
Other: Can withstand gernade blast, can be thrown over holes and such to walk over them.

who doesn't love crossovers? and anyways I said that a knockoff would be fine. like masterdarwin said, it's basing the ideas on other games. even some of the most creative and talented game designers do this, so chill.
