Well, I recently got a graphics tablet, and the initial reaction is always to show off :) So here is my first sketch, just a simple sketch of my hand.

In case you're wondering, I got the best pencil appearance using the air brush in GIMP set to a low rate with variable pressure on rate and thickness. In GIMP, most of the other tools appear choppy with variable pressure.
That looks really good. I have a nice A4 tablet but it's too chunky to leave on the desk permanently so I never get to practice with it.
Yeah, my tablet is a bit too big to have around all the time. You have the keyboard and mouse in front of you, where do you put the tablet? :S
Cheater! I bet you traced that. That makes me wonder, can you make a hand-turkey on the computer for thanks giving?

Yes, though my hand was a bit too big to trace properly.

A 400 $ tablet and I'm drawing kindergarten grade Hand Turkeys.

You're putting it to good use, there's no doubt about that.
I've drawn quite a bit with my tablet. I shelled out 200 for it, and it's the best investment I've ever made. I've drawn web comics in CS3 and even made people awe at my MSN drawings of penises. =D

I didn't trace at all, but I still consider it cheating as I had to look at my hand as I drew it.

Yeah. I've got to admit that is where most of my tablet time goes. Same goes with DS Pictochat. Once you figure out that you can draw them across several messages it's all over.
Now that I look back on it...

were our Kindergarten teachers retarded? That doesn't look like a turkey. It's more like a quadruple nub dildo with a complimentary talking nub.

Sorry Maggeh...
You don't agree with me (on the blog post after this one) so you close the comment thread without giving me a chance to respond, just to make it look like you've "won the argument". Real mature, Kunark. I suppose you'll delete this comment too.

I stand by what I said. As I mentioned, there is indeed such a thing as an XML schema, but the term is not nearly as common with regard to programming languages like C#. Try searching for "C# + interfaces + schema", for example. You'll get a fair amount of hits, but none of them using the word schema in the way you mentioned. Most of them are referring to XML schemas and database schemas and the like. Which just goes to back up my assertion that a schema generally refers to the structuring of data, not code.

I'll give you that the use of the word "contract" is more widespread than I thought. I did a Google before but it didn't seem widespread based on the search terms I used. I still think it's bad and confusing terminology, even if it is widespread.
I'm starting to think you're going out of your way to condescend me.

I thought you fucking knew me better than that. Apparently I haven't been transparent enough for you.

Just so you know, I deleted it because I was tired of people arguing about something that was mostly off topic, and refusing to stop even after I asked them to. Yeah, I made one last comment before I closed it, but based on my reputation, have I EVER cheated to make it look like I won an argument? Frankly, I didn't know we were competing. I thought the point was to determine what was right, not who was right.
this isn't really the place for this discussion, and as much as i hate to continue it, some things need to be said. delete this if you want, but at least read it first.

i don't care who you are or what your reputation is. i'm not doing this to be rude, i'm doing this because i think that you're capable of writing a much better post than you did. the whole post looks like it was written off the cuff. it reads like a rough draft, not a finished article. the first few tips have very short explanations, no examples, and no links. then you get into the swing of things and the later tips are better.

the article is all over the place. some of the explanations don't really match the tips, and many of them overlap. you don't seem to have a focus or a target audience and it causes problems for you.

that's why tip #4 has a bad explanation, because you aren't writing to any particular audience. you want to teach people how to program like professionals, but you think that the term "interface" might be confusing. if you're targeting the novice programmer, explain what an interface is. if you're targeting a more advanced audience, it's safe to assume that they do know what an interface is. if you don't have a target audience you'll just end up confusing everyone.

writing an article is more than just sharing your knowledge. its sharing your knowledge in a way that other people can understand. as you're writing the article, when you read over it you can't read it as yourself. you already know your knowledge, so it's always going to make sense to you. you have to look at your article as other people would see it.
Sigh.

Okay, look, this wasn't supposed to be a personal attack. I'm sorry if it came off as one. I guess I'm a little bitchy these days.

I saw information that I perceived as wrong and I rushed in to correct it. That doesn't mean I don't respect you; I'd do that to Lummox JR or Tom if I thought they were wrong.

Then when it looked like you were just stubbornly defending yourself for the sake of "winning", I started getting annoyed, because I hate it when people do that.

Suffice to say that while I accept your explanations, I still disagree with you on much of the terminology. Now that we've both explained ourselves, I hope we're both mature enough to be able to leave it there.
Thanks for clarifying. I didn't intend the article to be fully edited and 100% accurate, it was just a list of my thoughts, so I wasn't really expecting a lot of minor corrections. I'm not great at writing articles (you can tell by how poorly I wrote my BYONDscape tutorials) so I don't like to exhaust much energy in correcting all the little details.

Then when it looked like you were just stubbornly defending yourself for the sake of "winning", I started getting annoyed, because I hate it when people do that.

I do too, which is why I kind of blew up when you said that. There are a few people that I'd expect to know me better than that and you are one of them :P
See, I'm a pedant about that kind of thing... having inaccurate information floating around raises my hackles. =)
