Official Announcement: Beginning FF6 BYOND
The official name is unslated, right now It's just "Final Fantasy 6/VI/Six", however you wish to write it.
Post Game has already had 2 Dungeons to explore planned out and 7 Post-Game characters.
Due to FF6's mostly Non-Linearity, a lot of the game of course is optional material, but that's just trying to make the game harder than it should be for players (but yes, you could go over Figaro and go to Kohlingen after beating Whelk (you have to beat Whelk in order to leave town), go down, beat Ultros in the Opera House, get the Airship, then go to the Floating Continent right off the bat, then enter World of Ruin, Classic Speed Run skeelz). Although like this you'll miss a Lot of Rages, at least one Dance for hours to come, Edgar's Chainsaw (with a new password), and more (yes, Rages will be intact).
And an edit: Yes, you can return to World of Balance after beating Kefka's Final form and completing a Post-Game Dungeon. I forgot about this dungeon, Oops :P. It's basically put a Short Dungeon (time theme, Haste, Slow2, Stop/Stop2, things that gain advantage from Speed, etc) which will contain an item at the end that permits you travel between WoB and WoR.
Overall the game will be set up like a normal FF6. You play as you wish and do what you want, bar the scripted areas you do have to go through.
What I think many will enjoy the most though is the PGD...
Anyhow, until I get a coder, don't expect to hear much more about this.

Please don't ruin a good game by making a BYOND version of it.

As I remember you'd be right. Atma weapon is split into multiple weapons based on level, so that whole idea is redundant.

Anyone looking to program a FF6 game will need to be extremely well versed in OOP (object oriented programming). If your plan for including the Atma weapon includes something like this line:
if(usr.weapon.type == /weapon/atma_weapon)
then you're doomed.

I'm announcing it so I can try to get help. I know what I want to do with it, from here in is most of my issues. The World of Balance Map is done, I just need coders and the tiles (my only good trait is mapping, having the actual game helps, and other sources too).
Thankfully there's already a good bit of code done.

The picture is as true as it gets.
And I agree, if it's with friends (which leads to lulz) or just others in general, I could probably stand swallowing playing through any good game like FF4/6 Multiple times. I swear thanks to FFL I memorized every FF4 map except for Sealed Cave...
And trust me, you'll LOVE the PGD XD. I don't think many will be able to complain except for WHAT is in it, and that's mostly a nostalgia.
My only Major problem? No coder ;.;... my only coder (whose work WOULD have helped me recruit ANOTHER if he were able to finish a basic battle system) computer got Reformatted to another OS so he lost all the work. Aw Dang.

Multiplayer. I will be getting a coder soon I hope, preferably one who won't let most of the bugs (IE: InvisiSketch) occur.
The Gameplay will be a generic copy of the battle systems, sans bugs (Eva WILL work...) as some just want to play the game, and many WITH THEIR FRIENDS. But it's the PGD, which -will- remain a Complete secret until I can get one of the PGD Characters PA'd (in which case it's a 90.9% secret), that will grab the real attention.
Otherwise new stuff will be added when the game's basically finished, including the PGD.
And the way you put it, FF6 sucked all ass (excuse me if I misread) despite the common opinion it was actually the best FF. (And Trust me, I've seen this opinion surpass all the FF7/8/9/10/11/12 calls out there).
And before anyone says "FF7 > FF6".

Bug wise I will be looking for this legendary "150 bugs" issue and make sure these don't occur with us. Vanish/Doom will probably be the only 'bug' left intact as Squeenix/Square officially stated it wasn't a bug.
