A member of our crack team of bug testers has verified that this issue is reproducible, and has handed it off to the development team for investigation.
Descriptive Problem Summary:
Hubs won't appear in Demos & Libraries or Game Updates, even if set to visible, if both Short Description and Long Description are empty.

This isn't a major issue, but it does delay our listing response as moderators. I've received a few messages in the past asking why we're not listing a users hub, and this tends to be one of the few reasons.

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:
  1. Make a hub.
  2. Make it visible.
  3. Check Game Updates or Demos & Libraries.

Code Snippet (if applicable) to Reproduce Problem:

Expected Results:
Hubs to appear unconditionally for moderators to see in Game Updates / Demos & Libraries if set to visible.

Actual Results:
Hubs stay invisible on the forum.

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often? Yes.
In other games? Website.
In other user accounts? Yes.
On other computers? Yes.

When does the problem NOT occur?
When people make use of the Short/Long Descriptions for their hub.

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

Workarounds:
Leave a description of your game so we can get a brief summary of what we're dealing with. Blank hubs are a no-no.
This could well explain a thing or two...
Is this still an issue? It's been a few months and I believe there were a few updates to the website since then.
I just tested it again and it's still an issue.

A description of the game, short or long, is required to make it visible in the appropriate section. Removing short and long descriptions will remove it from the list.

Is there a reason we'd want to support displaying a hub in the forums that has no description whatsoever? Seems like we would want a short description at least, and preferably both.
I would think we'd want a warning message upon submit. People do contact us pretty frequently with questions as to why we haven't reviewed their game yet.

Most of the time, it's just that they never submitted their game, but I imagine sometimes this has been the cause of some of that confusion.
I suppose so, but I'm not sure where I'd put such a message in. Anyway it seems fairly obvious to me that if you want a game or a library or something to be listed, it needs a description. Why (and how) would the mods be expected to list something that had no description at all?
As a stopgap for now, we should at least put in a message after they submit, saying that X fields need to be filled in.
I just tested this again because of this.

Short descriptions no longer factor in whether or not the hub entry becomes visible. Instead, it relies on long descriptions for visibility in the Game Updates section.

Edit: It looks like old non-member hubs show up in the pending list, but newly created ones don't?
