Tom gave us a lifetime membership for the Linux Guild!
I'm in the process of updating all of this information, and am going to add a custom sidebar to all of the up-to-date information about installing, upgrading, WINE installation, bugs / fixes, pretty much any "Useful Information."

RANK UP to thank Tom!
I'm not a huge Linux fan, rather, I've never even used Linux but I have heard of version that go above 8.10, something along the lines of 9.something, so would you not change the "We recommend:" bit on the left to a later version? Or is it just got to do with stability?
Ubuntu 9.04 is the latest "cutting-edge" that will been released in a few weeks. Since there are other Linux distributions other than Ubuntu, these instructions may not work for them.
It's fairly safe to assume that if your running Ubuntu (any version) that the instructions will work. Usually you just need to change "jaunty" (9.04 codename) to intrepid (8.10 codename) and so on.
Very nice! Now branch out to Mac and you will have a fan for life :) lol.
There is a WINE implimentation for Mac, I believe it's called "Darwine".
I'm not sure how up-to-date it is compared to the Linux version though.

The project died two (three now, I guess) years ago, so it's probably really buggy.
Darwine 1.1.18 is out apparently.

Seems to keep with the WINE releases.
Just downloaded and installed VirtualBox, and currently downloading Ubuntu 8.10, I'm going to run Linux virtually are try it out for the first time. I hope it's great.
