Here's another "Blog" post, for lack of a better word. So I was thinking about player upkeep, a hunger system. Why? I have a vision of a flow of goods from village to village. I want a fully connected community in this game. And one easy way to "sink" money in the game is to have you buy food and drink to keep your player alive. It goes along with the permadeath aspect that I will likely be adding to the game in a few weeks. But I needed a way to justify it. So I thought long and hard about it while I was at work today. And I think I've come to a reasonable solution. Similar to Haven and Hearth (another game I'm rather fond of), eating foods will give you experience in certain stats. This also gives me an excuse to introduce a cooking skill because WHY NOT.

This has been Player Upkeep with Artemis.
Good idea, it will also making ezing abit harder, please try not to make it like DBG thought lol, sometimes you cant go 30 minutes without dieing of thirst on dbg.
I don't think it's possible to ez because you train with actual combat. I suppose you could sit around getting hungry to eat for stats, but that'll take a long time. It's easier to just fight monsters for levels.

Hunger will likely take anywhere from 3-6 real-time hours (I'm thinking 4 atm) to drain completely. Then you have some time to eat as your health slowly ticks away. It's very forgiving in its current state, you really don't have to worry about hunger deaths for a while. Until I have a sustainable method for players to keep their hunger up, it's kind of a useless stat.
