I think it's time we brought back the classics, the good old games, the long forgotten games. So I propose we have a friendly competition (friendly as in, no monetary prizes, just fun).

There will be competitions once a week to twice a month after the start date. These competitions will vary, but all will feature games from "the good ol' days" of BYOND. Playing games will earn you points, which I'll post in this thread at the top once we're ready to start. Post in this thread to sign up.

Scoring: Note that screencaps may be needed for score captures, we're gonna have to operate on Gentleman's Honor when it comes to those.

Games under consideration:
Castle/Space Castle (by Abra)
Blob
Scream of the Stickster
Proelium 1/2
Solar Conquest
Murder Mansion
Treasure Quest
Last Robot Standing (AKA Mexican Standoff)
Wargames
Dungeon Master
Lazerwars by Leftley
The Sky is Falling

*Note: These are the games that I felt represent BYOND the best around... 2005 and were on the hub. Feel free to suggest games that you think represent BYOND

The Sky Is Falling
Should make a competition to make them again from scratch would be interesting on how some of them would turn out ofc they would have to be the rather simpler / smaller games because otherwise the timeframe would be ridic haha.

Potential future competition. Grad school applications need monies but after that I wouldn't mind doing something like that.

Only games I could find on the hub were listed. I couldn't find Lode Wars and I couldn't remember the author's name.

?

Currently unavailable. I need to ensure all players can play the game so since I can't get the host files I can't put it up.
Hmm... I remember seeing a link to the hostfiles somewhere...
These all claim to be available, though I can't tell from here if they actually work or not. I'm at work. I'll dig up more later if I can.

Red Cap
WebCrawl
Star Scurry
Bombard
Tanks
Bunniflip
Settlers
Wayback from August 2005

Maybe you could get Nadrew to host MLAAS.
The main problem about multiplayer games is participation. If people don't participate, then there's no real point to it. Anyway, I think I'm just gonna draw up some kind of script and let you guys go at it.
I host MLAAS here and there but nobody joins.

I've had them on my byond member's files for a few years now.

[EDIT]: Thanks for the random membership! :]

Very helpful, thanks!

First competition will be posted December 1st! Bear in mind that the competitions won't necessarily be to WIN the game if I can find a more interesting way to play it out.
Wasn't that around when Seika(Teridal, w/e) was still played?
Seika was around, yes, but it was replaced with Teridal which is a different game (sorta). I'm not going to consider Seika/Teridal for the contest because it's an ORPG and I want these to be relatively quick contests that you can do in 20 minutes max.
Alright, no one bothered to do week 1's competition. I'll post the week 2 competition next week (this week is final's week for me).
So it's this coming weekend?
