By popular demand, the Cartridge Classic II has been extended. The new deadline is now February 1, 2011.

Basically I meant to promote the contest more right after it was announced, but I got way too busy with some major work projects and wasn't able to give the contest the promotion it deserved. So rev up your ideas and get going on your projects, because you have an extra two months to do it!

Now that there's time to do so, I may even put into this myself over the Christmas break.
Lucky me - I was stumped! But I'm sort of getting back in development gear now, if I stay there over the next couple months maybe I'll find a concept I'm happy enough about to turn in.
I really do appreciate this, Lummox JR. With finals being so close, I did not have the time to work on my entry. Hopefully, I will use my time wisely and not take it for granted.
Also gives me more time to finish up my entry as well as compress the source. I thank you for that Lummox JR.

Also thank you Calus CoRPS for asking about the extension (in your comment in the original post).

I am wondering how many submissions you have received thus far? If the answer is not many, is there any possibility of extending this event?

Could a low number of entries be a reason for the extension?

Sorry, but you're a filthy, filthy liar. :p
I suppose this gives me more time to enter, especially when Fall semester ends the 21st.

More like an excessive optimist. ;)
Are you accepting multiple submissions?

Is it alright if they were made for previous challenges but never submitted?
Yeah, mutliple submissions are allowed, and it doesn't matter if the project was started for an earlier contest or not, as long as it was not an entry in the last Classic.
Awesome.
"The source code for all qualifying entries will be released at the end of the competition. The value of world.hub_password, if present, will be removed prior to release."

Source code alone? Please tell me this is the case. I'd like to make an entry, but I want to be able to charge for subscriptions after the challenge. This will be feasible if most of the game data and the graphics, stored in xml and dmi files, aren't released. I could go so far as to include dummy graphics and game data so the game could be compiled and run by anyone interested, just without the actual game content.
I think it's reasonable to make content subscriber-only, so long as the released version does have skeletal content so it can run.
LOL I just 1-lined my game and remembered I forgot to add something >.>
