Descriptive Problem Summary: When I change the pallete for an icon, the icon never changes. I double-click the color on the pallete that I want to change, pick my color, and press OK. Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:

Confirmed. That bug has been pretty damn annoying.
I don't believe this is as much a bug as a feature. Since the new icon format supports many more colors (more than are shown on the palette), changing one doesn't force a change in the icon itself, anymore. So I guess you're just stuck with using swap (which works better, IMHO)

I forwarded it as a 'looks pretty legit, bug'. So if it is or isn't, you'll find out tomorrow.

This is correct. If the palette were to change the icon, you'd be unable to edit high-color icons (those with more colors than the palette). For now, you should use "swap". In the future, we can provide either 1) a toggle to enter into palette mode, or 2) more obvious swapping routines (including a global swap across all icons, which is particularly useful).

Without the pallet it would be awesome to have a global swap feature, just because edited an icon with 16+ different states would be difficult to do it on such an individual state basis like that.

Thank god I only have to do the occasional colour changing edit. Im not very good at most icon work, lol.

Note that you can edit dmis in photoshop or paintshop. They are just pngs.

Not exactly. Photoshop doesn't preserve the PNG comments. Neither does The GIMP.
