If I Could Ask You

If I could ask you about happyness
would you tell me that it is a fake emotion?
That it is something we made up to mask suffering,
an illusion of the heart?
Yes I would.

If I could ask you about eternity,
would you tell me that nothing is forever?
That everything begins and ends
and nothing we can do will change that?
Yes I would.

If I could ask you about love,
would you tell me that it doesn't exist?
That it is something people only think they know,
something no human can understand?
Yes I would.

If I could ask you about me, us,
would you abandon all your beliefs?
Would you trust in love?
That our feelings of happyness are real?
That our passion can last an eternity?
