Well the concept is based around the anime/manga called Bleach!

I'll pitch the basic idea of my game. The user will be greeted with a title page, allowing them to create a new character, load a previous character. The user can customise their player icon through things such as; skin tone, gender, hairstyles, and of course their name.

Once created the player will appear in their 'bedroom' of their house, in which they can enter their closet, and select from a range of clothes to make their character unique to other players (note: each item comes in a variety of colours).
Player must exit the house, to appear on to the streets.

Now, here's the fun part. The player will be able to move around, and attack enemy NPC's (example: Hollows) which of course will target the player also . The players gains experience from killing NPC's and also receives a stat point in a certain stat depending on the action they carried out (example: if the player attacks the target, they will gradually gain points in Strength stat). NPC's will also range in level and stats depending on the area the player is in.

Once the character is at the right level requirement, they must choose which power to receive. (Shinigami, or Hollow - these then branch out the unlock new powers such as Arrancar or Vizard, and other power sets I may create on my own).

Players will receive new powers depending on the race they chosen, however, must meet stat requirements to earn new powers (example: Shinigami unlocks Shikai at level 60).

All of the above is my main goal, however, there is obviously room for improvement such as PVP, missions/questing, and all sorts.

I have been inspired by already made anime Byond games, and wish the make this game come to life. However, one problem. I am a beginner at this, but I have the skills to create a simple map, and use icons. (I must add here that I have a database of pre-made icons I downloaded free which I can build upon)....if anyone wishes to aid me in this production of this game then feel free to ask.

For those who help, depending on the amount given, payment could be an option, however, isn't a guaruntee.

To add to the masses?

Create something original you!
Can u make it goa stylle bleach please?
What's a "goa style" game?

And I'm trying to think of some originality, although I'm struggling with ideas, but as i mentioned before its simply an idea!
He means Naruto Grand Online Adventure, most likely. I think it's good that you're interested in making a game, but as it stands your idea is very basic, so now would be one of the easiest times to switch it to a more original one. I love anime, too, and I know it's easier having access to the wide variety of icons that already exist for it; but there is a lot of trouble that comes with it to counteract that. Especially since Bleach is handled by Funimation.

Anyways. I'm not here just to put down your idea. I just want to promote more original thinking. For example, why not base your game around the idea of every being having their own unique 'aura' so to speak. No normal being can see it, but it could be based off emotion, or simply divided into a few types. Perhaps red, blue, green - meaning physical, energy, and support; for example.

Obviously, that basis could provide plenty of room to replace the non-original content from Bleach that you mentioned. Not the best idea, I know, but it's just a foundation! You could always build on it, or come up with another. It's the first to come to mind. As for the icons, don't worry about those too much. Focus on learning the DM language and programming your game. You can use any icons you want as placeholders, and then work on finding, making, or having better made before you release.

If you make a good, and original game it'll be easier to find people to help you with it when it is further along, including pixel artists, and you'll just generally have less trouble and the game will have a lot more potential.

If you need more help with ideas, I'd be happy to chat about it further here if it could mean another good original game on BYOND. I may love anime, sure, but BYOND has plenty of anime games what it needs is more original games.

P.S: Sorry for the long reply. It's rather late, my mind got swept into an idea, and well here we are, heh. No matter what you choose, though, good luck.
yea goa is so good hahaha it best game :D
I appreciate long posts, so i dont mind at all! it helps me a lot better. I understand what you mean, it's just trying to work out new ideas to keep it original. I do have the same belief as you that BYOND does have a lot of games similar like this, and i would like to make something new.

Yeah, looking at other games people have made have really inspired me to make my own. I need some sort of project or hobby in my life, and i think creating this game and putting my spare time in to will really keep me occupied!

As for learning DM language, i am currently looking at tutorials and stuff, and im beginning to get the hang of it, the only thing that annoys me is when i get errors and i havent a clue how to fix it.

Yeah id really like to chat with you to bounce ideas off each other and hopefully get some help of you when needed :) Thanks again!

As for GOA ive never played that naruto games properly but when i first logged on, it felt almost the same as Bleach by VcentG !
Ah, glad to hear you don't mind, and you're very welcome. I really hope you are successful, and while I lack the time to help with anything like programming, pixel art, and such I would be more than happy to chat about ideas or perhaps even assist you in figuring out errors. I remember what it was like when I was learning, and I always hated errors the most.

I'm far from the best, heck you can't even find much from me around the site right now, but I do think I'm at least pretty decent so I might could help you figure it out sometimes. If not, there's always developer help for the big stuff. I found the DM guide to be useful in learning, but very boring to read. Tutorials helped a good bit, and studying GOOD resources (like a handful of libraries) helped too; not copying or implementing though. Not a good idea to rely on someone elses work to do things for you if you want to learn, in my opinion. Aside from a library or two, sometimes, maybe. The best thing I ever did, though, was sit down and pick something, like a basic guild system for example, and just program it as best I could.

Doing something like that pushes the mind to think, lets you know what you do and don't remember, gives you something to work with and improve, and so on. Hands on experience works better than anything else once you get the basics down.
Well I've started creating more. I have a simple levelling system involve HP, Max HP, Def, Str, Exp, and levels. I have created the player icon eith attack movements, and created random enemy spawns to attack the locked on player. And just finished a save and load function with chat box :)
Right now i have a problem. i have created my enemy AI and attacking player blah blah...however when the enemy gets close to me they turn invisible, but are still there attacking me. In addition, in the chat window it says

'Demi Hollow attacked Michael.Smith94 for 8 damage'
'Demi Hollow attacked Demi Hollow for 5 damage'

so i assume its attacking itself!

I used the tutorials from this link: http://www.byond.com/forum/?post=109791

see what you think!

Hm. As for the icon, have you double checked everything with flick? If the icon you've specified for the hollow does not have a icon state in its file that is named the same as the icon state you chose in flick then it'll disappear when attacking; as the tutorial mentioned. Another possibility is just that you typo'd the name in the code file or icon file, or perhaps simply changed it and forgot.

If flick isn't the issue, it's probably something somewhere else in the code. The other problem is also something that requires looking at the code to fix; though it probably has got something to do with the way your attack verb chooses its target(s).

Anyways, ideas was one thing, but I don't think this topic is one for error discussion. Wouldn't want to spam or anything, heh. So if you'd like any further help, further discussion, and what not then you can just email me at

I just made the email address specifically for handling things in BYOND, and only BYOND, so I should have no problem replying fairly quickly.
