Steam Sale: Left 4 Dead

Following up last weeks sale on The Orange Box, Steam is having a sale on Left 4 Dead, 40% off. So you can buy the game for under $25. Not only that, but for the next 5 and a half hours, you can download and play the game for free. I personally won't be buying it(no money), but if any of you want to play a game with me, you can add me to steam(I'm in the BYOND group), and just send me a message.

Click here, to get to the Left 4 Dead page.

Yeah, I always play on expert, and it's shockingly easy when I accidentally end up on a regular server. Expert mode is really fun with a coordinated team of friends.

I bought it last night. Couldn't pass up on the good deal. I played the demo and was like... this is too easy so whatever. Now that I see some of the different modes, I can understand why people are enjoying it.

The zombies have more of a 28 Days Later appeal to them. Trosh, if you think there was no time taken in the game, you're quite mistaken. The entire game has an AI to change the difficulty of the game as you're playing. If you're doing far too well at the game, the difficulty increases itself to make it so the game is always challenging. Depending on how well you do, you'll notice that you'll have more witch/tank spawns, less health packs, and less weapon caches. As well if you hadn't noticed, but the zombies don't run straight at you, they actually arc their movement to make them harder to hit, albeit anyone that knows how to lead a target can still shoot them with ease, the average "nub" will still have trouble.

I don't know about you Trosh, but hordes of Zombies coming in for the kill is exactly what I'm looking for.

However they killed it when it was noticed the zombies were running. If it isn't shuffling slowly and in a non-threatening manor, it's not a zombie.

I <3 L4D.

Methinks Trosh just isn't a team player :P

I wish they would release the SDK already, though. I'm too lazy to go through the trouble of setting it up myself, but not too lazy to complain about it :P

Also, this game is fun as heck to play around in console with:
director_panic_forever 1
director_force_panic_event
z_spawn [tank/boomer/hunter/witch/smoker/zombie]
fire
boom

Anyone here played on a low-grav server? It's amazing how different it is (and you would think the survivors would have an edge, but they really don't [25 pounce damage ftw])

If you think there are classes for humans, you've been playing the wrong game/you're incompetent. Sorry. :(

Yeah, I am a total "Nub cake", because I don't like a game you like.

All the game is, is floods of zombies pouring in on the screen and every once in awhile a bigger enemy showing up. They try to make the game look a little more complex by adding classes to the infected and human sides, but it just doesn't work very well.

If you want something like that, at least go for Team Fortress 2. At least it's a halfway decent game, it at least feels like they took some time on the game, unlike L4D.

I was highly disappionted with L4D. It had great potential and they just wasted it.

The lan cafe that runs left4dead in my neighborhood aparently uses Nvidia Geforce6600s, super affordable if you ask me. Im running it on an ATI HD4600 and it has no framerate problems. Basically a midrange graphic card that is less than 3 years old is a requirement. Not unreasonable but many of my friends have had to upgrade gfx cards. Ram doesnt really matter, most computers have at least 1 gig and thats sufficient, processor.. you know anything made in the last 5 years will be fine.

Ie: grab one of these : http://www.newegg.com/Product/ Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102807

Another good deal from Steam, unfortunately it's a deal I have no plans to take up, L4D would murder my poor computer.
