I'm at a friends house, and having trouble port-forwarding. in Off Topic

Ok, so I'm at his house, right? I go to the address bar and type in 192.168.1.1 his default gateway, as is many other peoples.

So, I type it in, then a popup comes up saying I need a name and password...this is weird...normally it only asks me for that when I'm changing something specifically.

Any ideas as to what's going on?

Type admin in the password slot and nothing in the username and it should work.

I'm not sure what's going on here. I just tested it and it works fine. Make sure you have cap lock off and that you are putting admin for the password and leaving the username field blank.

Some people actually use something else as a loginname and a password. So youd have to get the router info from him.

no one has any log in info, his dad has no clue (he'd be the person to know) and we are lost :-( we don't wanna have to call the ISP, they suck buttox (EarthLink)...any other idea's?

Try a few things, not all routers are the same.

Username: admin
Password: admin

Username: admin
Password:
(Leave the password blank)

Or try leaving both blank.
