Plans For New Retro RPG

So anyway, hi, for being new on this blog thing for BYOND. I am a pixelholic and my hand can't stop clicking on the left button of the mouse so I decided to open up a third party program like GIMP and put it to good use! JK.

Being around BYOND for awhile, 2005, (not as long as others) I have been meaning to make my own so called Dream Network but haven't like many other lazy people. Though times have changed and I seemingly become less lazy, just busy with work, life, and everything in between.

I have been lately, since end of last year, been working on a BYOND game I can stick with. Drawing mainly, I've come up with some original art for my game. Inspired by older retro games, I have been making some basic enemies to begin with a test (draft) character sprite to boot (isometric if you can't tell).
I'm sure some of you can tell which retro RPG I got the first person perspective from.

I don't claim to be great at pixel art, but I think I do better than most average person who say they can but can't all in reality (yes, those anime games populated with "I draw 4 u gimme GM" and makes either nothing or the crappiest thing you ever seen).

Anyway...it's going to be an MMORPG obviously (surprised?). Though I plan on implementing a little system that allows for some variation, like side features that include a more side scroller platformer approach. I would like to see some variation in an RPG for once, not just BYOND, but even published games on the consoles I have played in the past. The battle system will be similar to Mario RPG (SNES) with the battle player sprites isometric and nicely animated. Hopefully Byond's isometric map/icon update will be complete by the time I am ready.

However, any game programmer would tell you this would be a future addition, not the actual main core part of their project. I am not even going to promise this game is going to be released this year...there is a lot to do and I plan on getting it done, however, since to me this is a win win approach. If I decide to not take off with the game and just do the art, at least I have a portfolio to show off to some art game industry something more than a few sprites, but a collection for a actual game. If I do, I will make it free, however, pay to play for a subscription for a few quirks that doesn't affect gameplay. In which, I will spend up to possibly $1000 for game advertising. Yes, advertising. I do not think BYOND's small community is large enough to make any profit off of at the moment.

I may be working with someone else (already have an idea who) on the project, mainly programming, due to that I'm mostly artistic and an aesthetic game designer. I do plan on taking a big part in programming it though. I've been practicing and studying quite a bit on DM's language (which I think c++ is more of a challenge IMHO).

If you read this far, you probably should question yourself why you are reading a blog like this. :P

I plan to make more displays on future art development, or even game development. So if you actually cared to read this blog and liked it, expect more sometime within the next month.

Oh, and this is my response to BYOND's upcoming update:

Stuff looks pretty good, Submerged is an action oriented, survival horror game. It is round based and takes place in an underwater compound.

For the outline of the game. The gig is paid, and it is all inclusive. So we would need all the mobs, turfs, objs, etc

Edit: My e-mail is frank@salassunless.com and it is the best way to contact me!

You have some pretty cool looking pixel art, though you really over-dithered on the "Beetle Knight".

Thank you!

Paid? I don't mind giving it a look. :)

Is Submerged the title or ... ? More information would be nice. :) I don't want to give out my email over a blog, is there a way I can contact someone on the pager (or someone contact me?)?
