Flexible class system

Many modern MMOs not only require a huge time-commitment to play, but if the player decides he wants to play another type of character, he must often begin the 'grind' all over again. The labor it takes to create another character capable of end-game content is very time consuming. Balancing characters in this kind of environment is ultra-sensitive. Minor advantages in one character class create the feeling that somebody may have invested all of their time into the wrong character. In Prism, players are not restricted to a traditional Class system.
Instead, the player creates a character with a soul of one of the following colors: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, or Violet. Each color represents a different attribute or strength. The characters' talents and abilities are determined by the guilds that he joins. Each character may join up to 3 guilds, and combine talents from each as he sees fit. Each guild is associated with one of the aforementioned colors. The character may belong to any guild of its own color or immediately adjacent colors. A character with a red soul could join red, orange, or violet guilds. This allows for greater character customization and lessens the effects of a poorly balanced system. While balancing characters is still of utmost importance, the ramifications of imbalance in the short-term is thwarted, as characters can simply change guilds.
