SqaureEnix's own console?
According to a friend of mine who got this information from a very reliable source (His cousin), who apparently is a guru of Final Fantasy and related subjects.
SqaureEnix has decided to make their own console, they could very well do this since they are very very rich. APPARENTLY The Playstation3 will not be good enough to handle the remake of Final Fantasy 7 (we've all seen the trailer) And I'm not surprised, according to my friend they are going to remake every final fantasy game improving them in everyway and releasing them on their own system. Now I don't wanna get my hopes up about this because its purely a rumor (as of yet) but what do you all think of this? SqaureEnix know they have the fans and market for all of this so I think theres a chance of it happenning.

What I heard was that the movie really didn't do bad, at all.... It just took about 50k more to make it than it made back. It was about where the other movies were in the box office, but in order to make ANY money off of it, they would have had to have done better than some of the best selling movies like LotR.

The information you have is not correct, and its the worst most terrible kind of rumor ever. Are you that stupid that you would believe that?
It is a proven fact that companys always loose money on systems and make it back with games. Even from the start.
SquareEnix would be better off always being a game developer and thats it.

Look up wikipedia, it was basicaly a post ww2 american company for the US soldiers in Japan, and decided to move to the Japanese audience.
Squeenix isnt that well off, you make it like producing a console is some easy feat. Sega managed it, but look at it now, it was struggling for a long time, most of its base was in Japan, it was prefered here in Europe, but we arent quite worth as much as the Japanese and American market.
If you check the share prices between Sony and Square Enix, you'll find an extremely good gap. Thats not to say Square isnt well off, its probably there with Konami and Blizzard, companies like that.

Nintendo was a well developed company before it entered the market, and sega got its base by building machines for US soldiers in Japan. Sony and Microsoft were also mega-companies before they entered the console market.
If they DID do a console, you can be pretty sure it wouldnt leave Japan, they dont have the cash.

There's no way SquareEnix will come out with their own console. Sega is way bigger-time than SquareEnix and even they lacked the muscle to stay in the console rat-race.
Sony is too huge of a corporate conglomerate to go up against at this point in time, especially by such a genre' based company like SquareEnix. They'd lose more money with that venture than they did when Square pictures went under due to the crappiness of "The Spirits Within."

A "Final Fantasy guru" can easily just mean "FF fanboy" and is not reliable information at all.
The possibility of more FF remakes is nice to hear, though.

They did a reshowing of the tech demo and removed the words "tech demo" from the trailer. Once SqaureEnix got the massive fan outbreak over the trailer they decided they really would remake it. They also relised how much of a huge market there was for it.
