Nick231.net hosting

Setup a simple Zencart store for the time being that allows for purchases via Paypal. Gift Certificates on it are being used in place of credit hosting for the time being. Writing/testing/securing an entire billing system from scratch takes quite a bit of time unfortunately so an integrated system will have to wait a while.

With that said for the moment at least everything that needs to be done as far as I can tell, is done, So head on over to http://nick231.net and place your order!

Game hosting

Get your games hosted on http://Nick231.net. All essential functions are up and running smoothly. The credit system isn't quite done yet, so billing will be handled manually for now. Once thats done everything will become automated.

The $10.00 deposit is being waved for the time being, (possibly indefinitely) in favor of simply turning off the service if your billing is more than a day or two late.

So far Only Dragonball Zeta is being hosted on it, and one other being used for testing purposes, and so far all involved seem quite happy with the service. Questions and comments are welcome, and I look forward to being able to provide a much needed service to the BYOND community.

BYOND Game Hosting Open

Server is up and running. I still need to kick it into gear and get the website for it up, but it does work!

Packages are as follows:

Standard hosting: $5.00USD + $10.00 deposit
Heavy hosting: $10.00USD + $10.00 deposit

Both include 5gb of disc space, shell access, MySQL databases, and E-mail. Site will be hosted at yoursite.nick231.net. Domain names if you have one, are supported.

The $10.00 deposit is to allow for slightly lax billing. It will be refunded upon cancellation if the account is in good standing. Heavy hosting is for Typically Anime games since they tend to use quite a bit more resources. If your game uses a large amount you will be upgraded to heavy automatically and the difference deducted from the deposit after being warned of resource usage.

Currently the server only supports BYOND 411.976 which is the latest linux version, v412 worlds appear to work however.

Anyone interested, until the site is up payments will be made directly via paypal to nick231@nick231.net. If you're interested send a page or leave a comment, an account will be setup and paypment is expected within 24 hours or said account will be disabled.

BYOND Game hosting

I'm considering ordering a dedicated server for some BYOND hosting. I've done some hosting in the past out of house, primarily web, but did hosting for a game or two for a while.

The general plan will likely be $10USD per month for "Heavy load games" (Naruto, Bleach, etc.). $5USD for other games, with "low-load" games getting discounted to lower amounts on a game-by-game basis. Other long-term basic style things will probably be available, scoreboards, basic forum/site hosting, etc.

Game hosting will require a $10 deposit that will be refunded if the service is canceled while the account is in good standing. This will allow for some leniency in regards for billing without resulting in any actual problems or concerns if things aren't paid in advance.

As for actual billing, I'm thinking of using a credit system. Think something along the lines of the old BYOND Dime system, just at a 1 Credit = 1 USD rate. Anyone will be able to purchase these credits, and they will then be able to be applied to a games hosting slot (essentially allowing players to donate towards hosting costs).

I haven't really worked out the details quite yet, but feedback, questions, suggestions, concerns and criticism is welcome. Just want to get an idea of whether or not there is a legitimate demand for it beyond people just trying to freeload before they get cut off.
