Keywords: delve, links
Hey guys, sorry I haven't made a blog post in a while. Not that I've been especially busy, but I've just been doing other things lately, I guess.

I've fixed a few things with Delve, I made movement keys not stick when you spaz-out your keys, mirrors and movable objects now behave correctly with light, everything is colorful now, and I fixed a few pixel movement/collision bugs.

Nothing really new to show off besides some of the new options on the title screen.

I'm currently working on multiplayer connectivity, so we'll see how that goes later in a future blog post.

Finally, I have a list of neat links that people interested in helping me with development or following me a bit more closely than this blog allows. So click on ones you might want to see!

Even judging only by the css on this page, color is a big improvement.
@IainPeregrine: Thanks for agreeing.
I got flak when it was b/w and I'm getting more now that its colored.
I think it looks rather nice!

I couldn't disagree more. Rather than having a unique art style it looks like a bad Gameboy Color game now.
@SuperAntx: Wow, do you really want b/w back that much?
Whatever happened to gameplay>graphics? ):

People realized that it wasn't a viable strategy for profitable game development and so began spending millions of dollars on graphics and less on content. The gameplay > graphics group is a very niche group of older gamers. Nowadays it's all about who can produce the most hyped up and shiny trailer with a flavor of the month feel to it.

Luckily BYOND is a niche site so go for it.

I never said abandon gameplay for graphics, I just said you don't have to sacrifice your unique art style just to have blue water. It's possible to pull it off if you make the effort.
@SuperAntx: That's not exactly what I meant. I was talking about how everyone was squabbling over graphics when BYOND is usually pretty good about the gameplay>graphics rule.
If that rule were to be true, would it not matter what the graphics are, color or b/w.
I'm thinking on changing everything back to b/w.. I did like that style better.
I liked b/w because it was unique, not because it looked better.
If the graphics were unique as black and white they'll be unique with color.

I think the lack of color could be interesting as part of a puzzle. for example, you play through a level where you have to push blocks onto switches of the same color. then, the big bad guy steals the color from the world and you have to play through that level again and match the blocks to switches without the color indicators. or maybe it happens the other way around and the b/w version is first and is easier because any block can be matched to any switch. after color is restored the puzzle is harder because you have to get each block on a specific switch.

if you make the lack of color part of the game, its interesting. if its not, its just a gimmick that will turn away far more people than it'll attract.
Will somebody even play this game? I haven't seen any screens...

There's a video in the blog post before this one.
@Eternal_Memories: If you haven't seen any screens then you haven't been following this blog at all. There's usually a video in each blog post. >_>
You could go for a gray-scale approach for the graphics, or have an option for colored/gray-scale.
