Tree, C & C Please! in Art & Sound

This is one of few trees I've made, so far I think it looks ok, but could look 1000 times better so I would be very thankful if some of you great pixel artist could critique my tree. Giving me advice and such on how to make it better. I'm trying to make it look a little cartoony and simple yet still realistic. Thanks in Advance!

You could use some AA to give it a softer touch. ( Anti Aliassing )
The trunk could benefit from not being thickly ( seemingly) outlined...
Perhaps a bit of hue shift would make the trunk seem more exciting! Same goes for the folliage.

Overall looks rather clean but it could use some more work !

The main problem is the brush is in a total cartoon style, while the trunk is a realism style. Those two objects look seperated, and when together clash pretty nastily; you either gotta change up the brush, or the trunk, whatever style you want to go with.

I'd change up the brush but I'm terrible at making the leaves and such of a tree. I was lucky that it came out looking that well. Do you guys have any tips or resources I could study to maybe improve my ability to make the tree canopy?
