Descriptive Problem Summary:

Immediately after I updated BYOND all attempted connections to all Game servers have failed. I tried reinstalling BYOND 481 again but to not avail. Though, DM works fine, and my Internet connection has no problems.

Numbered Steps to Reproduce Problem:

1. Log in/Start Dream Seeker

2. Attempt to connect to game server

3. Connection Box (Byond launch box) displays a connection failed

Expected Results:

With the previous version everything was fine. I was able to successfully connect to all servers.

Actual Results:

I get a connection failed all the time.

Does the problem occur:
Every time? Or how often?
Every time.
In other games?
All game servers.
In other user accounts?
Yes.
On other computers?
Did not attempt to.

When does the problem NOT occur?

Always happens.

Did the problem NOT occur in any earlier versions? If so, what was the last version that worked? (Visit http://www.byond.com/download/build to download old versions for testing.)

Everything worked fine before. The previous one: BYOND 480.1088_byond.zip

Workarounds:

Can't seem to find any.

This is almost certainly a firewall configuration problem. If your firewall (you may have just the Windows firewall, a separate firewall, or both) is in more or less its default configuration, it's probably setup to only allow certain programs to access the Internet. That's fine, but usually those firewalls also are configured to use a hash or version check to look for changes to the program. Unfortunately most firewalls that do this are also not smart enough to alert you to the change and ask you what to do. You need to disable this check for every program in the BYOND suite that could use the Internet: Right now that means byond.exe, dreamseeker.exe, and dreamdaemon.exe.
Thanks! I didn't think it would be my firewall because my antivirus firewall alerted me beforehand; I didn't consider my computer default firewall to change.
