First time I've noticed so many people on in a long time. Good for you Byond!
Alot of it is thanks to Silk Games and the advertising that was done for NEStalgia. At least the recent boom is.

Isn't it amazing what a bit of advertising can do... Gratz NEStalgia, 332 people on at the time of this post. Woot woot.

It can't just be nestalgia, there were about 120 people on ss13 when I last checked.

You're right but NEStalgia does seem to be the main catalyst.

Well, the hope is that people come to the community to play one game and then find others. So one game getting successful helps everyone. Whether this is true or not remains to be seen...

SS13 has had that sort of playerbase since last November. At least.
No, NEStalgia would only peak around the lower hundreds last year. After advertising on (forgot the site name) it jumped from the teens to triple hundreds.

I took a random look at the amount of people online and I'd like to say that...

It surely is ;)

Nearly 7,000 people!

Does people online count as just people logged into the website and/or pager? Or is it something else? Because I know a lot of people who have the pager set up to load when they start windows but hey don't actually play the games. So that number is a little deceiving when it could just be a bunch of people online because the pager opens when they log into their computer but they don't turn it off because they don't need to (Like me, my pager is always on unless I am updating my computer and shut it down for whatever, but I am not often playing games). I would be interested in seeing a count for how many players are actually logged into games if that is possible. It would give us all a more accurate look at how many people are really actively playing and how many people are just around.

The count is based on how many people are logged into games, and are publically broadcasting their location.

Really? Well then that IS impressive. I always thought it was just people who were logged into somewhere. It should be labeled better. XD

It's just people logged into the pager (not website), but not necessarily in games. So there are undoubtedly some stragglers who just have the pager running; however, there are also some who are playing non-public games (invisible to the hub).

Whoops -- totally forgot about it not being just "players" anymore. Probably should include both counts or something =P.

You lied to me!!!!! XD Just kidding.

See that's what I thought. It seems like a more realistic number for just being people logged into the pager and not necessarily playing games. I would still be interested in knowing how many people roughly are playing the games though.

They're still using BYOND, and that's the important part.

Kind of... I guess. I mean if it is the situation like I said and the BYOND pager just loads on start up then they aren't really using BYOND it is running in the background. Which is why I mentioned a player count of people actually on games. OR even logged into the website. I mean if you are on the website or playing a game then you are actually using BYOND. Oddly enough I kind of get annoyed with my pager because I keep getting stupid spam messages from random people about games I don't play... Y_Y Which is why I use the website more.
