I haven't posted for a while as I am quite busy with things. But I have been browsing around BYOND a little and looked at a few things by Lummox JR.
First I took a peek at EasyFiles and looked through the documentation and ran it. It is exceptional.
After fiddling with it a bit, I moved on to DmiFonts. This is also very cool. If you haven't looked at it, where have you been living? My only question is when making our own fonts, does the MFC application use all available fonts, or just a list of pre-picked and rendered ones?
I ask this because some things that are done by the application are a tad bit tedious to be done by a human like figure out average width, etcetera.
It would be great if it could say find all font files on the user's harddrive and use them, because there are many font makers online which would allow us to use the application to do the dirty work for us.
If this is already implemented, I probably overlooked it and I am sorry for posting that.
Then I finally took a look at the hub entry and documentation of Regex. I've been toying with subscribing and then downloading it to put it to use. It looks quite useful in doing certain things, but I wonder would I use it? Anybody who has subscribed please enlighten me.
Lately I also took some time to work on my old DrawShapes that draws shapes! Would you look at that. But the thing I can't figure out, is how to implement a filled triangle drawing algorithm. My current triangle drawing algorithm just takes the coordinates passed in the proc argument and draws three lines using my line drawing algorithm. I tried searching my faithful google, but it failed me. So I keep wondering.
I also played Bombard. It was fun, but it has an algorithm I was trying to figure out, which is the projectile algorithm. I was going to use mine for different purposes, but I never got around to working all of the bugs out of mine, and it fell down the priority list. If someone could give me a few pointers on what to do to make it better please reply.
I also watched a few games of LRS. It looks fun, but I never take the time to play a round or two.
One thing I must mention as my rant for the day, if you have a publication on the hub, check it and make sure that it downloads correctly, maybe even get a friend to help make sure that it is okay. The worst thing is finding a project that you really would like to play or download and getting a unzip failed, or invalid website, or invalid package files. So now my philosophy is if I find someone's hub entry is down, I will report it right away. I urge everyone else to do the same. If any of my hub entries were ever down, or are down now (None should be) I would want people to tell me ASAP.
Well off to work on my lastest project, a friend finder which finds BYOND members that are the most like you!
