Will we be able to remove the default output panel when the Flash Client support is released?

Most likely, yes. We're actually considering a map-only interface (with some support for popup text input and map output) for the release, since that is the industry standard.

One more interface question. How will keyboard input be handled? I was under the impression that we won't be able to use the interface.dmf file at all. Is that assumption correct?

Currently the existing BYOND system (both dms and dmf) is supported, but we may move to something else.
